I have a partially unanswered question.

Why would any guy want to raise a kid that is either certainly not his own or of doubtful paternity?

What would make a non-retarded guy do something this stupid? Because, face it, the low quality and infrequent sex with his aging hag of a mother would not be a sufficient long-term incentive.
