Nazis as Corporate Drones

I spend a lot of time reading about various versions of the same historical events to gain a better perspective of what actually happened. While doing so is not easy or conclusive for events that occurred hundreds or thousands of years ago, it is rather easy for events within the last 100-150 odd years. The prevalence and volume of record keeping by more than one party to an event let us reconstruct the near past to a high degree of accuracy- which brings me to the topic of this post.

My analysis of various streams of available evidence suggest that most Nazis (defined as paid employees of the Third Reich) did what they did because they were good corporate drones.

I am certainly not the first to suggest that most of the Nazi leadership were just following orders- however horrible they may have been. Hannah Arendt made that observation in her 1963 work- Eichmann in Jerusalem: A Report on the Banality of Evil. Indeed, extensive interviews and first-hand accounts of many people in senior positions in the Nazi hierarchy, such as Rudolf Hoss, suggests that most of them were not even particularly anti-semitic. Curiously enough, most of these followers were quite aware of the nature and impact of their actions.

Which brings us a peculiar question: How can a person who is not intrinsically evil end up participating in and excelling at something that they are not particularly interested in?

While it is easy to understand the actions of the raving anti-semitic minority among Nazis, it is much harder to understand the motivations and actions of Eichmann or Hoss. However it is even harder to understand the actions and motivations of your average Nazi- who, face it, usually joined the party for improving their career prospects.

Nor is the phenomena or rather average people becoming murderous thugs for improving their career prospects limited to Nazis. The scores of Russians who carried out Stalin’s orders (whether they involved murder, torture, forced labor or starvation) were no better than their German counterparts. The Japanese soldiers and administrators who enslaved, abused, tortured and killed millions of Chinese in the 1930-1945 period were also cut from the same metaphorical cloth.

So what does any of this have to do with modern corporations and the ubiquitous ‘corporate drones’ that seem to inhabit and thrive within them?

A part of the answer lies in understanding the nature of modern corporations and their similarity to other social institutions and arrangements. I am, once again, not the first to note that modern corporations have more than a passing resemblance to feudal societies, plantations and other ‘top down’ totalitarian systems of governance and social organisation. If anything, corporations combine the worst elements of the intrigues of feudal society, the exploitation of plantation-type forced labor and ‘top down’ we-known-better-than-you paternalism.

It does not take a genius to figure out that moderately ambitious personalities with little ability for independent thought, but just enough brain-power to carry the task they have been assigned, will flourish in such institutions.

The personality, behavior and aptitude of your average higher management types are therefore interchangeable with concentration camp or gulag commanders. The middle management types in modern corporations are the functional equivalents of the lower level of management in various death factories run by Nazis, Soviets and Japanese during WW2. You average corporate drone would be perfectly at home as a valued and trusted employee at a Nazi, Soviet or Japanese death factory.

You know something else.. after being caught doing all those horrible things (which they knew were horrible) they would initially express surprise at the ‘true nature’ of their job. They would go on to blame corporate culture, bad leadership and the need for obtaining timely promotions for justifying their actions. However they would show considerable pride in the quality of their work, even if that work was murdering a few million people who they barely knew. They would then try to tell you that they were good family men (or women) just trying to earn a good pay and timely promotions. All of this would be said with great sincerity and earnestness- largely because they actually believe in everything they told you.

The unpleasant truth is that a majority of people are incapable of abstract or interdependent thought, regardless of the results of their so-called ‘IQ’ tests. I would go so far as to say that those who score well on ‘IQ’ tests are better at fooling themselves. Most people have no concept of objective reality and will enthusiastically follow any conman (or conwoman) who feeds them enough table scraps to buy their loyalty. These drones will create complex mythology, narratives, rituals to justify the most bizarre behavior and decisions made by their superiors or leaders.

Styles of workwear, nomenclature of internal hierarchy and using the services of corporate lawyers are the biggest differences between modern corporations and genocidal totalitarian movements.

You are 100% correct. Of course, working for the government in any capacity has the exact same effect as does working for a corporation. So does going to school or accepting welfare payments from the government. Few people are free of the matrix in part or in whole. Comments?

    Certainly

    – High IQ-types have much more creative and better rationalization hamsters.
It has long been known that intelligentsia are more susceptible to propaganda; peasants tend to be least suscptible to propaganda (or any kind of information). More education or journalism does not help; it depends entirely on the content that is dessiminated.

    – If you sketch the personality of the corporate persona (the legal person), it is indistinguishable from a psychopath: ingenious and often superficially succesful but no calculation of costs to other human beings.

    – It also strikes me that most of the really diligent banal types were hard-core BETA, and their fastidiousness, loyalty, diligence, and perseverence are often compensation for their lack of swagger and devil-may-care nonchalance. There are alpha’s that committed callous and vile deeds, but those incorporated into a personal history. Getting it down to a process, actually manufacturing evil, is best left to people who are not even reallly committed to the purported goals — they are committed to getting the job done right where others are looking for opportunities to goof of or trying to turn stuff into more of a game (some fun).

    To paraphrase Ice-T

you ain’t in my set you ain’t my friend
wear the wrong color your life could end
    homocides my favorite binge, Colors

Thats the summation of the human experience, a world of stories filtered by a neocortex that can’t see more than a hundred fifty or so people as truly human.

So given an opportunity to get ahead in life, to gain respect from actual people you actually care about and risk for not going along its no great thing to do things to other people you see as people like things who might actually have a slight negative connotation to you.

    Why not?

I get what you’re saying, but this sentence is just, “What the fuck?” My head hurts reading it. I keep trying, but I can’t finish the sentence. What a mind fuck of a sentence. Total confusion.

      I’ll try a different way

Since most Germans at the time neither personally knew nor particularly liked Jews in a broad sense of course they went along with it. It was in their best interest to do so since it benefited them.

For the few wobblers, just the risk of trouble from neighbors, the SS, the cops whoever was enough to push them over,

This is not only banal but perfectly normal. Anyone would do the same thing.

    Advipoops diabloski….

you already know the answer to this-there were expiriments performed where a guy in a lab coat would order test subjects to “electrocute” subjects…..

many would as they felt “authority”abdicated them of moral responsibility….

“This is not only banal but perfectly normal. Anyone would do the same thing.”

    Luckily you are wrong….

stop listening to Ryu and the White Nationalist shitheads who pollute the manosphere and think for yourself….

there were Germans who helped sneak Jews outta Germany. There were whites who helped sneak blacks out of the South via the underground railroad…..

there have always been packets of resistence-those who ignored authority and followed their internal compass…..

diablopoops doesn’t speak about that because it doesn’t go with his narrative of the world is falling to shit….

read some history, look it up on the web, just think for yourself and stop being led around….

If 90% of the world is falling to shit, the 10% not falling to shit at the same rate … doesn’t make the 90% go away.
Your argument seems to be a variation of “NAWALT”.

      • November 24, 2012 at 10:29 am

yeah, on the surface it might seem like that…

but peel it back a layer….

this means if you really think about things (not necessarily that you have a high IQ) you can choose “not to follow orders” and that may be the best thing you do with your life….

I’m beginning to think MGTOW has much more that avoiding marriage….

It means opting out of military service and law enforcement….

        It means resiting illegitimate orders…..

It means going against the grain and going your own way….

        There’s no need to “opt-out”.
Just “don’t be around” when the calling up begins.
        There is no “resisting”.
        There is just “no person”.
The grain is usually just some indoctrinated compulsion that we feel, with no return other than “for society’s good”.
As is rightfully said: how has nationality, ethnicity, religion or grouping … demonstrably benefited you?
If not, time to think … about “paying yourself”.

Back at you with the “read some history” These people, the Oskar Schindlers and such are exceptions. Maybe heroic ones (depending on what side you are on) but exceptions none the less.

Study the human history of genocide and warfare. Its a common everyday practice under certain circumstances. Most peoples, including Africans and Jews have been perpetrators and victims. Big picture. It ain’t no thing in the long run. People are people.

Same thing for slavery. I can’t get morally uptight about something thats universal among humans. Pretty much everyones forbears kept slaves and were slaves from time to time. I’m not like some Confederate revanchist mind you, I think slavery is a stupid idea and against current morals and my family teachings but thats current morals and in time, that might change. if for some strange reason I am around than, hundreds of years from now when the wheel turns well we’ll see.

Sir Terry Pratchett I think gets this, the not so universalism of moral systems

From Hogfather (the book and movie are both awesome BTW)

For the non initiated, the guy talking in ALL CAPS is the Grim Reaper. Susan is his Goddaughter

“All right,” said Susan. “I’m not stupid. You’re saying humans need… fantasies to make life bearable.”

REALLY? AS IF IT WAS SOME KIND OF PINK PILL? NO. HUMANS NEED FANTASY TO BE HUMAN. TO BE THE PLACE WHERE THE FALLING ANGEL MEETS THE RISING APE.

      “Tooth fairies? Hogfathers? Little—”

YES. AS PRACTICE. YOU HAVE TO START OUT LEARNING TO BELIEVE THE LITTLE LIES.

“So we can believe the big ones?”

YES. JUSTICE. MERCY. DUTY. THAT SORT OF THING.

“They’re not the same at all!”

YOU THINK SO? THEN TAKE THE UNIVERSE AND GRIND IT DOWN TO THE FINEST POWDER AND SIEVE IT THROUGH THE FINEST SIEVE AND THEN SHOW ME ONE ATOM OF JUSTICE, ONE MOLECULE OF MERCY. AND YET—Death waved a hand. AND YET YOU ACT AS IF THERE IS SOME IDEAL ORDER IN THE WORLD, AS IF THERE IS SOME…SOME RIGHTNESS IN THE UNIVERSE BY WHICH IT MAY BE JUDGED.

“Yes, but people have got to believe that, or what’s the point—”

      “MY POINT EXACTLY.”

        “we” are the 1 percenters….

anyways, this is arguably your best article and would’ve been great at Inmalafide….

the WN mangina’s wouldn’t of gotten it, but it begs the question-what type of man do you want to be?

one who says “I was just following orders” no matter how reprehensible or one who takes a stand and is responsible for their own destiny….

CAMPBELL: Darth Vader has not developed his own humanity. He’s a robot. He’s a bureaucrat, living not in terms of himself but in terms of an imposed system. This is the threat to our lives that we all face today. Is the system going to flatten you out and deny you your humanity, or are you going to be able to make use of the system to the attainment of human purposes? How do you relate to the system so that you are not compulsively serving it? It doesn’t help to try to change it to accord with your system of thought. The momentum of history behind it is too great for anything really significant to evolve from that kind of action. The thing to do is learn to live in your period of history as a human being. That’s something else, and it can be done.
    MOYERS: By doing what?
CAMPBELL: By holding to your own ideals for yourself and, like Luke Skywalker, rejecting the system’s impersonal claims upon you.
…When Ben Kenobi says, “May the Force be with you,” he’s speaking of the power and energy of life, not of programmed political intentions.

AD, you are naively being too easy on the drones.

They did actually knew what they were doing was wrong but did it anyway because now they are able to claim “just following orders”.

That’s the whole purpose of the “leadership-followers” groups. To let a huge group of like minded people be able to do the wrong that they want to do anyway and be able to deflect responsibility.

All they need is a person who is willng to take all the blame, to be called their so called leader.

I agree, claim just “just following orders” is most time just excuse to allow you to do bad things than not have to take any responsibility for it.
