Curing Your Nostalgia: 1

Many white americans have a nostalgia for the “good old” days. So let us have a look at photographs that are less than 100 years old.

Why do I have the strange feeling that white nostalgia has some connection with the pictures in this post?

You might say- but others did worse (The Holocaust, Armenian Genocide etc). Sure, others did- but they never promoted themselves as just or fair people. The nazis, turks, NKVD never said anything about due process, fair trials etc.

And just out of curiosity- what ‘crime’ were these black men lynched for? A white woman accusing them of rape after she regretted or was ashamed of having consensual sex- or sometimes even if sex or assault had not occurred.

Another question- Since when is torturing, mutilating and killing a poor lonely man an act of bravery? Look at the expressions on the faces of the whites surrounding the victims- they certainly look very satisfied and proud of their actions.

If you did that to a dog, you would be rightly labelled as a coward and sociopath.

On June 14, 1920, the James Robinson Circus arrived in Duluth for a performance. Two local teenagers, Irene Tusken, age 19, and James Sullivan, 18, met at the circus and ended up behind the big top, watching the black workers dismantle the menagerie tent, load wagons and generally get the circus ready to move on. What actual events that transpired between Tusken, Sullivan and the workers are unknown; however, later that night Sullivan claimed that he and Tusken were assaulted, and Tusken was raped by five or six black circus workers. The authenticity of Sullivan’s rape claim is subject to skepticism. When Tusken was examined by her physician, Dr. David Graham, on the morning of June 15, he found no physical evidence of rape or assault.

The violence associated with the lynching of Will Brown was triggered by reports in local media that sensationalized the alleged rape of 19-year-old Agnes Loebeck on September 25, 1919. The following day the police arrested 40-year-old Will Brown as a suspect. Loebeck identified Brown as her rapist, although later reports by the Omaha Police Department and the United States Army stated that she had not made a positive identification.

Thomas Shipp and Abram Smith were two African-American men who were lynched on August 7, 1930 in Marion, Indiana. They had been arrested the night before, charged with robbing and murdering a white factory worker and raping his girlfriend.

On July 19, 1935, a 37-year old African-American tenant farmer named Rubin Stacy was lynched in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. According to initial reports of Stacy’s murder, a mob of masked, white men took Stacy from the custody of six sheriff’s deputies who were transporting him to the Dade County jail in Miami. The mob hanged Stacy from a tree near the home of Marion Jones, the 30-year-old white woman who had accused him of assaulting her with a knife.

Cool dude, you’re the first person to mention lynching. Do you really think white americans really wish for a return to these days? Maybe some, but certainly not the majority …

Oh, and not all of these men (in fact a fairly small number) were lynched for “rape” (yes, I know the accusations weren’t necessarily true), even though that would fit very nicely with the overall narrative of your blog.

Oh, and no, I am not condoning lynching or any other form of mob “justice.”

Are you sure that all these were lynched because of these accusations?

Could we conclude that if we leave things to women’s judgement we get what we have in the photos?

I agree my friend. Too long has this ignorance went on! We, society, just assume that our elected officials are just doing their job. We also “assume” that these officials are doing the “right thing”. Well, if you really stop to take a look at what’s going on around us. You would see that everything is spinning out of control! Everyday it gets worse, as you show in these pics of men accused of what? That’s a great point you made, over the years look how things have changed. What will happen when the same thing keeps continuing, not to the extent of hanging of course. Where is the gray area though? As things steadily get worse, will our children think that this discrimination is the norm? Will our constitution, in which is slowly diminishing, have no more meaning or effect? I fear that soon, not only will we be living in an undefined dictatorship, but the Country that we are so proud of won’t be there any more. Very soon, we will start to see more and more similarities between our “free” Country and those in which who envy us! This isn’t something that’s becoming a problem, this is an existing problem that we need to kick right through the up rights! If it doesn’t stop now, you got to wonder what will the future bring? What are we doing now, that in the future will we look at and wonder, “what the hell were we thinking?”. As you said, look at the men’s faces on the pictures, would your’s be any different. Yes, we say that’s crazy, “I can’t believe what they did back then”. Well, watch the T.V., read the news, and keep an eye on the people that we elect. I promise you, our future will not be so different than the pictures posted. This is something that’s so subtle, that we don’t see it going on. Recent events have proved this, bad things happen to good people, I know this. That isn’t the issue, bad things are happening, with no good to balance it out! I have a feeling that as these officials get fat and stupid off of our hard earned tax money, certain individuals will be paying the price. While all this is going on, we have no more time than to keep up our routine. Going to work, coming home, eating dinner, and going to bed. We all need to wake up out of the ridiculous trance that we’ve been put into by the people we’re suppose to trust. I can only hope that everyone starts to see the corrupt nature of the S.O.B.’s that judge us, as if they have any room to do any judging. Just keep in mind, we all have skeletons, what makes you different from anyone else? No matter how small you think it may be, or insignificant. Remember, what if it was you?

Maxim of the day: There are people who are arrogant to the extent that they want to teach crucified Christ a lesson in life.

lynchings were surprisingly common out west as well. it’s disingenuous to purport it was ONLY those damn southerners that lynched African-Americans. Other minorities were targeted and lynched along with blacks until the mid to late 1960’s with frequency in the South and out West as well.

The war was over far more than Slavery. Keep in mind the vast majority of those in the south were living in abject poverty before, during, and after the Civil War. Something like 10% of southerns pre-Civil war could even afford to own a slave, let alone be part of institutionalized slavery like a plantation.

Come on! I am not eve American and I live abroad. But your claim that white nostalgia was about lynching African-American people is completely bogus and ridiculous.

Why do the whites around those lynched black guys look so proud, smug and happy?

Sometimes words say more about who says them than about the reality they try to describe.

I have no illusions about the lack of human decency in certain groups.

It wasn’t only blacks who were lynched:

“In Oklahoma lynching generally followed the national trend. Surveys by the Tuskegee Institute, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), and various scholars identify approximately 147 recorded lynching deaths from 1885 to 1930 (dozens more probably went unrecorded). These numbered 77 white, 50 black, 14 American Indian, 1 Chinese, and 5 of unknown race.”

Those pictures are nothing less than the signs of PURE EVIL.

Fast forward to present day and the mind boggling indifference of most white Amerikans to the murders of over one million innocent Iraqis and tens of thousands of equally innocent Afghanis, not to mention the 5 million plus Congolese killed so ‘Westerners’ can have all the coltan necessary to run all their consumer electronics shit is proof that your feelings of nostalgic white Amerikan blood lust and mass sociopathy (as well as cowardice) are not unfounded.

Heart wise, not much has changed in the last 200 years with these savage devils. They’ve simply become even better at hiding their beastly, barbaric and racist natures with their two faced, forked tongued, hypocritical and deceptive evil that the American Indians quickly discovered and so aptly described when the first hords of these plundering, pillaging and murderous scumbags slithered onto American shores.

Yesterday, I read an excellent article in Pravda titled ‘Clockwork Orange Meets Amercan Psycho’ which pulls no punches about The Amerikan Sociopath. You can Google it or read it here: http://preview.tinyurl.com/2cbaocq

It still goes on to date. Except the damage inflicted is not physical, but psychological and systematic. And sometimes, the government use certain women as a “Trojan Horse” to get at you!
