Pissing on White Notions about Black Criminality

Many whites seem to subscribe to the notion that blacks are intrinsically criminal. I have tackled this bullshit a few times before, but here is another angle.

Answer these rhetorical questions-

1. When is the last time you heard about a black guy with a decent “normal” job commit your typical crime? Seriously?

2. Who gets away with crime at any level? black or white? who is more likely to be imprisoned?

3. Does the job of your average white guy involve any critical thinking, creativity, innovativeness- basically anything beyond rote ability?

People who have something to gain by playing nice will do so. Those who have nothing to gain by playing nice will not.

primary and secondary deviance. there is the act and there is the catching of someone in the act. then to be convicted is a whole different part/process. every time i’ve been to court i wanted to jump up and tell some black guy that simply “pleading guilty” is the quick ticket to them fucking you. if only he could delay and get continuances and get a lawyer, grease the wheels of the system, tuck in the shirt and wear a belt…..he would be treated differently. it’s not completely the case, but it’s not race so much as class/socio-economic differentiation.

As a 32-year Paramedic with over 12,200 EMS responses, I’ll leave it to the social anthropologists to opine on the intrinsic criminality of the Races.

What I am qualified to state is that in the world of “emergencies” both real & imagined, there are clear-cut & undeniable differences between the way Black males & females behave when highly stressed, as opposed to Latinos, White Americans, Asians & Middle Eastern folks, each with their own predictable reactions.

Treating people like subhumans over decades might make them behave like that.

Why is there such a large difference between Caribbean blacks and those from the USA?

In fact, properly handling these cultural-specific “stress reactions” is part of our continuing education, for our own safety, as well as our patients.

Like most everything else in life, racial/social interactions generate their own dynamics. And at least some of these dynamics create self-inflicted wounds in the fabric of the “group.” If a young non-White male grows up with a chip on his shoulder resenting “White folks,” he is creating a self-fulfilling legacy that just might screw him out of any number of opportunities.

The impact of “having a decent job” on good behavior can’t be denied. But it is a logical fallacy to believe that “the good job” precedes decent behavior. It’s quite the opposite.

It is no coincidence that learning in school gets you somewhere, dropping out gets you somewhere else. If poverty-stricken kids in Biafra can get an education in a one-room school house with dirt floors, what’s any U.S. kid’s excuse?

I suspect we could all learn plenty when it comes to the no-win notion of many minority individuals who constantly play-up their “victim” status, by simple observation of the Southeast Asian refugees who came here following the Viet Nam war. Most were poor; few even spoke the language; many faced hatred because of the war; nearly all had the nightmare of dead families.

They were seen as poor and asian in the 1970s, not n****rs.

Those folks were truly at the bottom of society. Funny, isn’t it? They just didn’t stay there very long.

Why do you suppose that is?

Excellent point. In the US, American blacks were second class (or even non-citizens) for centuries. They were literally treated as subhumans and systematically excluded and denied from opportunity. Observe the cultural/behavioral differences between immigrant blacks (africans, carribeans) and American blacks. The immigrant blacks didn’t have to deal with racist bullshit in their home countries, and are alot more motivated.

“Treating people like subhumans over decades might make them behave like that.”

Who alive today is being treated like a “subhuman?” This type of hysterical mentality feeds itself into the perfect conundrum called the Law of Diminishing Returns – you try so hard to do something you end up not doing it. No country that spawns Condoleeza Rice & Bill Cosby & Colin Powell (and a President who could not possibly have won the election absent millions of White votes) need continue to apologize for what THEIR ancestors did.

Slavery is over, and has be has been over for 150 years. No slave is alive today, nor the children of slaves, nor the grandchildren of slaves. I would submit that the only people keeping “slavery” alive in the 21st Century are those with an anti-White agenda. And that’s mental midgetry, in my opinion, because it cannot possibly end well.

Incidentally, historical record is clear that Africans were shamefully gathered up & sold to the Whites by other Africans. That’s worth factoring into the equation. And what is even less known is that in the first 100 years of colonization, at least 30% of the White people seen walking down the street were “purchased” as “indentured servants” by the wealthy Whites, and were not free to live their lives either, UNTIL they paid their “employers” the cost of the ship ride to America.

“They (the Southeast Asian refugees in the ’70s) were seen as poor and Asian in the 1970s, not n****rs.”

Stupid statement. I was a street medic in San Diego when 30,000 Hmong, Laotian, Vietnamese & Cambodians were “relocated” into former Navy housing in 5 neighborhoods of that city. The outright hatred & distrust toward these people – especially the Vietnamese – was real, and violent. In case you don’t remember, that was a VERY unpopular war, and tons of American’s looked at these people the enemy, the true cause of 54,000 citizens coming home in boxes, and 400,000 seriously wounded. Very, very few modern-era Black folks are treated as shoddily as these Asians were for decades. And today, 30 years later? They own businesses; they’ve learned the language; they excel at damn near everything they try and they are better accepted they ever – to a large extent because they NEVER allowed themselves to utter the words, “We’ve been wronged, and you owe us.”

We are three weeks into a new year. It’s time for the whiners to take a look in the mirror and grow a personal responsibility brain. By all accounts measurable, there has never been a better time or place to be than the here & now.

“Many whites seem to subscribe to the notion that blacks are intrinsically criminal.”
Sounds like a straw-man argument. “Intrinsically criminal” is undefined, but suggests these whites think blacks are guaranteed to commit crime. In reality, many whites subscribe to the notion that blacks are more likely to commit crime than other races, and that belief is also a statistical fact. One might say blacks are intrinsically MORE criminal than other races, which is a very different thing.

“1. When is the last time you heard about a black guy with a decent ‘normal’ job commit your typical crime? Seriously?”
Blacks commit more white-collar crime than whites, according to the DoJ.

“2. Who gets away with crime at any level? black or white? who is more likely to be imprisoned?”
Statistically, there is no police bias against blacks. Police of all races are more likely to arrest suspects of their own race: whites arrest more whites, blacks arrest more blacks, etc.

“3. Does the job of your average white guy involve any critical thinking, creativity, innovativeness- basically anything beyond rote ability?”
This has nothing to do with black criminality as compared to other races’.

“People who have something to gain by playing nice will do so. Those who have nothing to gain by playing nice will not.”
In other words: “The world is full of evil white racists, constantly pulling black people down and keeping them back. So it’s not blacks’ fault they commit crime. In fact, it’s justified!” Based on myths and political correctness, this is a really unhealthy attitude; unfortunately, it’s practically ubiquitous among American blacks.

Finally: looking at Haiti or Africa, I get the feeling American blacks are better off than non-American blacks. Furthermore, as Patric Paramedic rightly pointed out, Asians have consistently prospered in America in spite of racism against them. The Japanese were interned during WW2, and their possessions confiscated, which is discrimination at least as bad than anything blacks have experienced since slavery, and they got over it.

Wheres the stats? Is it in absolute terms? Percentages? I won’t take your statement at face value, sorry. Post the url.

“Statistically, there is no police bias against blacks. Police of all races are more likely to arrest suspects of their own race: whites arrest more whites, blacks arrest more blacks, etc.”

That sounds like utter bullshit. Its well documented (and you probably know that) that blacks get prosecuted more and with tougher sentences for comparable crimes than whites. Blacks are also more likely to be randomly stopped than whites. Sometimes the figures hit 26 times as likely. Even outside of America. Simply google it.

Ofcourse if you commit a crime you are responsible for it. Past injustice is not a blank check to commit more crime, you are an individual. So I don’t disagree with you on that point.

“Finally: looking at Haiti or Africa, I get the feeling American blacks are better off than non-American blacks.”

What is “Africa”? Its also a vague concept referring to a body of land larger than the size of three Americans and comprising 50 countries. Try to not be vague.

On the Haiti issue, Haiti is a special case. It was a former French slave colony that overthrew the French in the 1800’s and established a black republic. It was then summarily excluded from trade relations, isolated and made to exact tribute to France the tune of billions of dollars. Now (and predictably) its poverty stricken, full of debt and the hurricanes and earthquakes certainly aren’t helping.

“Furthermore, as Patric Paramedic rightly pointed out, Asians have consistently prospered in America in spite of racism against them. Nonsense. That was *one* episode of mistreatment of one particular Asian group that lasted no more than 5 years. Comparing the bad experiences of a voluntary immigrant group during wartime to the systematic injustices of the descendants of an imported slave class for hundreds of years is worse than apples to oranges. Its was no where near as bad as the Black codes, Jim Crow laws, lynchings, church bombings, I could go on and on.

“Wheres the stats? Is it in absolute terms? Percentages? I won’t take your statement at face value, sorry. Post the url.”

Nobody who matters cares about the conservative white viewpoint.

Yes, by all means, allow me to do your research for you. The first task is easy enough: no more than 5 seconds. Wikipedia’s got it under race and crime in the United States. Blacks are more likely than whites to commit white-collar crime. (Note that you have to take into their representation in the population, so it’s percentages, but not necessarily absolute terms.)

“That sounds like utter bullshit. Its well documented (and you probably know that) that blacks get prosecuted more and with tougher sentences for comparable crimes than whites. Blacks are also more likely to be randomly stopped than whites. Sometimes the figures hit 26 times as likely. Even outside of America. Simply google it.”

First of all, your link says, in the first paragraph, that blacks and Latinos are no more likely to be arrested than whites. That’s disturbing to me, because they commit crimes so much more often than whites.

Then, right at the bottom of page 1: “Mr. Browne, the department spokesman, said stop-and-frisk data was ‘examined in great detail,’ in 2007 by the RAND Corporation, ‘which found no racial profiling.’ He said the stops mirrored crime—that while a large percentage of the stops involved blacks, an even larger percentage of violent crimes involved suspects described as black by their victims.” An “even larger percentage,” eh? Who could have guessed.

Speaking of “utter bullshit”: 10 seconds later, a Google search of “race, arrests” turns up this, which puts the lie to accusations of racial profiling by police. As for traffic stops: this shows that while blacks are stopped more often, whites are more likely to be searched, ticked, or arrested. And let me reiterate that I certainly hope blacks are stopped and frisked and arrested more often than whites, because blacks are more likely to commit crime than whites, especially violent crime.

“What is ‘Africa’? Its also a vague concept referring to a body of land larger than the size of three Americans and comprising 50 countries. Try to not be vague.”

You want me to define Africa for you, because continents are a “vague concept”? What definition, exactly, would make Africa a better place to live than America for a black person? Because that was my claim. Similarly:

“On the Haiti issue, Haiti is a special case. It was a former French slave colony that overthrew the French in the 1800′s and established a black republic. It was then summarily excluded from trade relations, isolated and made to exact tribute to France the tune of billions of dollars. Now (and predictably) its poverty stricken, full of debt and the hurricanes and earthquakes certainly aren’t helping.”

Recall that my claim was this: “looking at Haiti or Africa, I get the feeling American blacks are better off than non-American blacks.” You seem to be agreeing with me now.

“Nonsense. That was *one* episode of mistreatment of one particular Asian group that lasted no more than 5 years. Comparing the bad experiences of a voluntary immigrant group during wartime to the systematic injustices of the descendants of an imported slave class for hundreds of years is worse than apples to oranges. Its was no where near as bad as the Black codes, Jim Crow laws, lynchings, church bombings, I could go on and on.”

Let’s skip the obfuscation: the phrases “particular Asian group” and “voluntary” are irrelevant here. So is “wartime”, and even “imported slave class,” given that we are talking about their “descendants.”

Getting to the heart of the matter: Japanese-Americans were systematically imprisoned, their property confiscated—and yet they flourish today, by every standard. I believe their treatment during this episode, as a whole, and on the basis of its potential effects on the future of that racial group, is *comparable* to the experience of blacks post-abolition, as a whole, and on the same basis—which includes a small number of lynchings, a small number of church bombings, school segregation, etc.

Of course, the real point was this: you say that “[i]n the US, American blacks were second class (or even non-citizens) for centuries.” It is clear, from Asian-Americans, that it is possible to overcome second-class citizenship. So why are blacks today unable to over come centuries-old discrimination? All the slaves are dead now; why is the “legacy of slavery” still making black Americans commit so much crime?

    Unamused –

I do appreciate your comments, as well as many of your observations. Steve Colbert coined the term “truthyisms” – matters that just sort of seem like they must be true, so we assume they are, even when they aren’t. I’ve had some huge advantages in my life that have keep me relatively clear-headed in regards to “Race.” One happened 20 years ago when my brother Tim married a Black woman, Melony. Melony & I spent hundreds of hours just talking, and I got quite an education. In college, I was the only White player on the team, and I’ve got to say that was a total riot. In San Diego the EMS system assigned me to train & partner with the first Black Medic in the city’s history. They did it because they trusted me to be fair. I partnered with Vernon and kept on learning.

And one thing I’ve learned could have been a bumper sticker written by Confucius:

“Man who drives with bird poop on windshield . . . has crappy outlook on life.”

A whole lot of people need to shine up their life-windshield. Otherwise the crap pretty much guarantees a self-fulfilled prophecy.

Black criminality is no different than white criminality via “law and order”, the bloody spoils of war bestowed unto every other nation, country and heritage of people, starting with the genocide of the Indians, the enslavement of blacks and even the war in Vietnam and Iraq. So, I’m not interested in what they have to say about blacks being violent. More intimidating? Yes (and it proves who the biggest bitches really are at the end of the day). More violent? Not really, even though black crime in 2014 is more rampant than white crime. But that doesn’t imply whites are “peaceful protesters” or incapable of acting like animals.

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Flashing lights pierced the black of night, and the big white letters made clear it was the police. The woman pulled over was a daycare worker in her 50s headed home after playing dominoes with friends. She felt she had nothing to hide, so when the Oklahoma City officer accused her of erratic driving, she did as directed.

She would later tell a judge she was splayed outside the patrol car for a pat-down, made to lift her shirt to prove she wasn’t hiding anything, then to pull down her pants when the officer still wasn’t convinced. He shined his flashlight between her legs, she said, then ordered her to sit in the squad car and face him as he towered above. His gun in sight, she said she pleaded “No, sir” as he unzipped his fly and exposed himself with a hurried directive.

“Come on,” the woman, identified in police reports as J.L., said she was told before she began giving him oral sex. “I don’t have all night.”
