Why I Detest STEMers More Than Garden Variety Sociopaths

Have you ever wondered why STEMers-type people are often detested in the popular culture of many eras, countries and ethnicities? Some of you might think that such dislike and hostility is irrational and based on envy about ‘IQ’ and ‘earning power’. But that is simply not true.. Note that many STEM-related fields (doctors, lawyers, managers) also attract similar personalities that are functionally identical to classical STEMers.

STEMers do not typically make much more than the median middle-class wage of the countries they live in. They might be overrepresented in countries with a small middle-class, but such countries are not exactly pleasant places to live in- how many people want to move to Brazil rather than just visit it for parting and fucking?

So what is behind the poor image of STEMers in popular culture?

In my opinion, it comes down to-

1. Attitude of STEMers towards others.

They measure the worth of people on the basis of how much useless crap they can regurgitate. Do the opinions of ‘famous’ dead men matter other than as an opinion by a human being?

Opinions are just interpretations of objectively measurable phenomena. The authority of the opinion creators has NO correlation with their validity.Beliefs that are today held as evidence of human stupidity were promoted by the respectable and ‘educated’ members of those societies. Belief in witchcraft, bleeding sick people, eugenics etc were once considered to be the mark of respectable breeding.

2. Belief in their own bullshit.

For a group that asks of understanding and open-mindedness from others, STEMers are remarkably dogmatic, closed-minded and cliquish. In many ‘progressive’ circles- people who question man-made global warming, the supposed role of dietary fats in obesity or any other indicator of SWPL status are shunned and mocked as “stupid”. Remember that such judgments are passed on the basis of ‘respectable belief’ and trust in authority, as opposed to objective and reproducible measurements.

3. Expecting deference from others.

Why would anybody else care about the hobby horses, rituals and stupid games of STEMers? Why should the rest of the world care about people who believe that they deserve special treatment? What do they offer in return? Do they even have the likability of non-STEMer sociopaths?

4. STEMers are far less likable than non-STEMer sociopaths.

Your median sociopath is far more likable, generous and reliable than a median STEMer. In my experience, assholes and garden variety sociopaths are much better and safer company than STEMers. Why hang around self-righteous, back-stabbing, humorless, incestuous scum if you don’t have to?

5. The world-view, attitudes and actions of STEMers are feminine.

Most men rightly look down upon men who act like prima donnas, cunts and bitches. While women can get away with such behaviors because they have a pussy, STEMers offer no compelling reason for the rest of humanity to give a shit about them.

6. Most STEMers do not contribute to humanity.

Inspite of their rants about how they are necessary for the progress of humanity, the vast majority of STEMers are either useless or a net negative as far as human progress is concerned. Most are just clever parasites who enjoy dressing up as secular priests (doctors, lawyers, managers, scientists, engineers and other assorted scum) and abusing whatever little authority they have.

It really comes to combining the most detestable features of sociopaths, women, politicians, priests and bureaucrats.

    Ok so you hate:

    Old White people
    The HBDspere (justified)
    Lawyers
    People who make over 500k
    Indian culture

And now STEMers? Did I miss anything? You’ve made alot of enemies have’nt you?

Why should I care about groups whose interests are counter to mine?

      You forgot about sociopaths.

Well, I for one know quite a few STEMers who work tireless, night and day, til their dying breaths, selflessly pushing human knowledge forward. So I’m going to have to disagree with you on this one…

People like that are a minority today.. The vast majority of STEMers are now feminized, passive-aggressive, untrustworthy scumbags.

Your viewpoint might be different because mathematics is a MALE field. Medical research, drug discovery, medicine are now UN-MALE fields.

There is no similarity between doctors/lawyers and engineers. Doctors/Lawyers are a “social field”. The Doctor doesn’t have to know what he is doing, he only has to appear that he does to an absolute layman. The Lawyer operates by Connections with Judges and other lawyers. Almost completely independent of facts.

They attract similar personalities, especially since the 1980s.

Engineers, on the other hand, are daily forced to deal with people who at least know SOMETHING about the subject they are working in. Some people they have to deal with may very well no more.

“STEM”ers are hated by the “Americans” because they have something the “American” wants. So it seems Smarts to hate them, so the “American” can then take it. Also, the “STEM”ers will often have the bad taste to contradict the free-floating fantasy world of the “American”.

Partially true.. but I am considering ALL STEMers- not just engineers and mathematicians.

No real research is being conducted today. That’s why there are no new drugs. Just a bunch of lean-and-hungry “researchers” lurking for the next idea they can steal, or how they can get rid of competition. Again, Medical “Research” is completely under the heel of the FDA.

Agree, and I have written about it before.

I was always under the impression that you worked in a STEM field, tech to be more specific…

    Yep!

This post did not resonate with me.

I can’t see STEMs spouting about famous dead men. Those are the English folks (Hi Thoreau!) STEMs will focus on the present and future, sometimes to the exclusion of tradition. What I think is going on is that you are looking at many STEMs, but you can only point out the most egregious cases.

There is a big gap between what they say and what they DO.

The jogger you wave to every morning, who happens to be in STEM? You don’t see him as STEM. This lack of a counterbalance skews the measurement.

As an engineer, I have to say that you’re completely full of shit. I work for a medical device manufacturer, and many of the devices that I’ve helped to design/manufacture have saved the lives of many thousands of people.

Widget maker is not a widget discoverer. Somebody in Taiwan or Korea can make the same widget for less- and the quality would be better..

Without people like me and my coworkers (and my entire industry), your mother’s next stroke and/or heart attack would most likely prove fatal, and your own life expectancy would be considerably shorter. And you don’t like doctors, either? Maybe you can pray to Jeebus to heal you next time you’re sick then. And sorry, but since when are lawyers STEMers? Most lawyers that I know majored in bullshit as undergrads.

It has to do with similarity of thought process.

Yes, it’s true that I do look down on a lot of people with less useful occupations- salesman, “project managers”, etc. When my company was bought out a couple of years ago, all of the finance, customer service, and HR people were shown the door. And a lot of our manufacturing personnel were laid off. But the engineers were untouchable. We are the company, our knowledge and ability being absolutely indispensable. Pretty much everyone else in the building was completely disposable and easily replaced. So yeah, we may be a bit cocky, but you guys need us. Deal with it.

I prefer to deal with the korean or taiwanese engineer.

    1. Attitude of STEMers towards others.

Funny, I was under the impression that most STEM types measured worth based on how much they actually produced. That’s the beauty of fields like software development and engineering. There’s an objectively verifiable way of determining how much someone has contributed.

    4. STEMers are far less likable than non-STEMer sociopaths.

So, who would you rather keep company with? A Human Resources manager who majored in Women’s Studies or a software engineer who builds and maintains the company’s systems? I tend to find the second individual a lot more worthy and more likely to have contributed something positive. They’re also probably better company, at least for me. T’m not overly fond of people whose main skills are schmoozing or sucking up to their superiors.

    6. Most STEMers do not contribute to humanity.

But enough do so that arrow of technological progress has been forward in the past few centuries. I think most of the problems you have with the STEM fields are due to feminization. Unfortunately, no productive field is immune to being taken over by parasites who become politically powerful but are a net negative in terms of contribution.

Most STEMers I know aren’t obsessive-compulsive enough to go into snits over something like that. Or if they are they direct it towards their work.

I admire expertise and the ability to create something valuable. STEMers at least have the opportunity to do something like that. HR types have no worthwhile expertise and no chance of developing any.

As a liberal arts major now in grad school for a STEM-related subject, I HAVE to agree with everything you said. F*ck STEMers – just judging from those in my cohort, they are 100% the most scummy sociopaths I’ve ever had the displeasure of coming across. I’m seriously thinking about dropping out.
