This is a commercial for Girls Underoos from the 1980s. Oh ya, those copyright cocksuckers want you to watch it on YouTube.

Here is my question-

Could you make and broadcast this commercial today without some “concerned groups” for the “protection of children” shutting you down?

Discuss: Are Schools, In Their Current Form, Necessary?

I have, in a previous post, wondered about the utility of schools and universities in our age. While both institutions had some residual utility in the pre-internet era, we have moved on.

Every kid has his/her optimal style of learning and a ‘one size fits all’ approach is neither desirable or necessary. So why spend money and time on baby sitting plus indoctrination?

Do schools educate children?

Let me clarify- I can see a role for some form of pre-school and primary school (basic literacy etc). It is however clear to me that schools, in their current form, are incapable of educating children. This issue also merges with my concern about the utility of current examination formats as a measure of learning.

Ask yourself- Would you believe any teacher over Wikipedia and Google? Would kids? Have we not already reached the point where online information is superior in objectivity, multiple viewpoints and access to some woman indoctrinating kids in a concrete room?

In any case, the ” forced socialization” occurring in schools does facilitate learning or education, does it?
