Some Types of Irony Are Superior To Others: Aug 14, 2011

As a few of you might have heard, ostensibly middle-class people are protesting about the economy in Israel by setting up ‘tent cities’. Most of their anger is directed towards poor job prospects, growing inequality, inflation and high housing prices.

This post is about a particularly popular exhibit at one such ‘tent city’ set up on yes.. Rothschild Boulevard in Tel Aviv.

A guillotine, the symbol of the French Revolution, has been placed Wednesday in the center of Tel Aviv’s “tent city,” turning into one of the biggest attractions in this ongoing social protest. The surprising display arrived in Rothschild Boulevard following another long night of protests across the country, this time focusing on contractor conditions. Demonstrators in five different cities participated in rallies Wednesday night against working conditions, wearing white masks and chanting: “Contractor companies are organized crime.”

    off with his head…..

so, diablo, y’know one thing that could be done in the us is to take criminals and have them fight to the death gladiator style ala death race 2000. I guess that what they did in rome during the decline in coliseums but now it could be pay per view tv….I guess this society is already in decline….
