Daily Commuting Hazards in Mexico: 35 Body Roadblock

As many of you know, I have from time to time, written about and posted about the senseless USA-backed drug war in Mexico. In a few of my previous posts, such as this one and this one, you can see the levels of brutality and dysfunction in the affected areas in that country.

The latest incident makes you wonder, once again, about the ability of the Mexican Government to enforce peace in that country. Though hanging mutilated bodies above overpasses has become common in Mexico, blocking roads with a roadblock of made of tortured dead people is kinda new.

Gunmen slaughter 35 as drug wars spread across Mexico

When two trucks full of bodies were dumped during rush hour on a main road on the edge of the port city of Veracruz it underlined the way Mexico’s drug wars are both qualitatively escalating and expanding to parts of the country that were previously peaceful. Gunmen left the 23 men and 12 women piled up in the vehicles and strewn across the tarmac at around 5.30pm on Tuesday while commuters watched.

and here are some very graphic pictures which I found on the intertubes.

But don’t worry, we are winning the war of drugs.. right???

Not much we can do short of a revolution here. The Vietnam Syndrome affects every part of our governance and once we start a shooting war even one we have no idea how a victory would even be calculated, we can’t stop.

Heck we are still basically fighting the Cold War along with the Gulf War, GWOT, Iraq, now Libya ,Drug War etc etc …

This will break our society or lead to a Junta or worse but since we are as corrupt as Mexico in our own ways, well so it goes. So long as they keep the murdering on their side of the border (mostly) we’ll do nothing.

Oh and to be proactive, in case anyone thinks going into Mexico is a good idea, well we will not be invited and an actual invasion would be very bad for us . Fred on Everything (who actually lives there BTW) has plenty of explanations but suffice it to say, if we do this, we will for the 1st time face a real war here and I’d guess 10 million or so guerrillas right here and now.

Do that and your morning commute (assuming you still have a job) will be a strip search by the military and/or a pile of dead school kids.

Unfortunately that is true, but Americans won’t learn any other way.

Could not help ask the question why all of them are without clothes?

Are the truck owners and drivers apprehended? People must have noticed them dumping the bodies.

Notice the base of the (?)lamp post at roadside – a replica of ancient American step pyramids.

The Mexican government’s somewhat less sanguine way of keeping the Aztec legend around!
