Dressing the Part: Nov 19, 2011

As some of you might have heard and seen, the police response to the ‘Occupy‘ movement has more in common with totalitarian states than anything vaguely resembling respect for due process and fairness. Police “actions”, and their increased militarization, are making news because their victims are now increasingly white, female, old, educated and certainly not poor.

In light of these developments, I propose that police in the US adopt a uniform that is far more fashionable and authentic to their role in American society. There is no reason to look like a schlub when you can dress in something designed by Hugo Boss– himself.

What do you think? Comments?

The latter has more dignity than the former.

Brando always looked sharp in his younger days. Leather trench coats keep the blood and brains of your uniforms. When the cops get around to their coming Bloody Sunday. You will see the change fast. Maybe a nice bloody X-mas. Lets see how stupid they can be.
Kent State. Bloody Sunday.Boston Massacre. Easter Rising. SS in the battle of the bulge. Japanese POW treatment. All of these came back to bite the powers that be in the ass.

It is amazing but there is a small municipal PD in the South-East that has already implemented you idea.

    Really? Which one?

I thought you were supposed to be an “original thinker.” Like a commoner, you pander to the programmed response to national socialism.

All you do is write Nazi and let the insults fly. Maybe next time you could write about the holocaust fable and collect some pity which has been drilled into the heads of schoolchildren almost from birth.

The great irony of the third reich is that everything America has done since that fratricidal war has been completely opposite of the Nazi ideal. We practice disgenics, equality and love for our brothers – resulting in a much more authoritarian police state.

Judeo-Hollywood pre-programmed responses aside, they had an undeniably excellent appreciation of aesthetics.

The Holocaust was well documented by the bureaucracy of the Nazi government itself.[18][19] It was further witnessed by the Allied forces who entered Germany and its associated Axis states towards the end of World War II.[20][21][22]

According to researchers Michael Shermer and Alex Grobman, there is a “convergence of evidence” that proves that the Holocaust happened. This evidence includes:[23]

Written documents—hundreds of thousands of letters, memos, blueprints, orders, bills, speeches, articles, memoirs, and confessions.
Eyewitness testimony—accounts from survivors, Jewish Sonderkommandos (who helped load bodies from the gas chambers into the crematoria in exchange for a chance of survival), SS guards, commandants, local townspeople, and even high-ranking Nazis who spoke openly about the mass murder of the Jews.
Photographs—including official military and press photographs, civilian photographs, secret photographs taken by survivors, aerial photographs, German and Allied film footage, and unofficial photographs taken by the German military.
The camps themselves—concentration camps, work camps, and extermination camps that still exist in varying degrees of originality and reconstruction.
Inferential evidence—population demographics, reconstructed from the pre–World War II era; if six million Jews were not killed, what happened to them?

Why is that relevant to the topic here?

Even so, the more important question is not “how many?” but “why?”

I’d like an accurate picture beyond “Nazis were evil.” because duh, every culture behaves that way from time to time or “people were victims” also duh.

go look at someone else’s comments above mine, I like being inconvenient with a little thing called facts….

It’s just as fun to do to White power guys as to Feminists….

        That’s how I roll.

        Yes, I’m an asshole……

        Mr. Dissidence,

        Are you hitting on me?

I appreciate the offer, but I don’t go that way……

The difference between cops and an un- or under-employed protesters is the cops still have jobs (emphasis on “still”). Unlike Syrian soldiers who are jumping ship to join protesters, bullying cops are absolutely devoid of empathy and morality, otherwise they’d beat up not on folks in the streets but on their own chief of police. But cops don’t because assholes in lifeboats are always content with those in the water, staying in the water.

Note: This comment supersedes an identical one erroneously posted to “Why People Follow Genocidal Populist Tyrants.”

I think that a more professional look would be good for the police. Prussian officers knew this. Look up some images of the Italian police. In the USA the state police are usually the most professional. With the best uniforms and dress codes. City police are on average the worst. They are also the most sloppy looking. Respect comes from your conduct in the long term. From the barrel of a gun or taser as long as you are pointing it at the person.

Up here in the Great White North, the RCMP have a quite sharp looking dress uniform in their red serge, cavalry boots and stetson. Their day to day uniform is not too bad also.

    They are Campy!

They (the RCMP) are also not averse to cracking heads once in a while, or to spritzing around the pepper spray.

And who is gonna pay their pensions? you?

I already am. And I believe they have a very generous pension.

Obviously, you do not comprehend the effects of demographic deficits on taxation and the ability of governments to fulfill their promises.

    Godwin’s Law.

This argument was lost as soon as you made it. The anti-defamation league has assigned you a 5,000 word essay on how pepper spray is different from the einsatzgruppen.

First visual example I I’ve seen of Godwin’s law. Well done, but you’ve lost 😉

The caps are different, the shoulder boards are different, the pockets are different, cuffs are different, material is different, the belt is different, the color is different, and one is wearing a tie. I can totally see how they look the same.

Whoever made this either knows nothing about clothing, nothing about uniforms, or both. They are kinda similar, but kind of similar doesn’t count. If it did, then 60% of military and police uniforms in the world would be the same.

Stoner with a boner, the person in the picture is German Army, not SS. Huge difference, and you might want to do A LOT more research on that subject, because the majority of the German Army did not kill jews. And being a member of the German Army (like the guy in the picture) doesn’t make you a member of the NSDAP “Nazi”. Go look up third reich factbook, and the section called foreign volunteers….

For your info, the supposed to be nypd oficer is in fact a french cop who loves the nypd, and this photo was taken from his web site, I am sure about his since I bought a couple of items off of the guy!!

It is about the costume. The person who wears it is secondary.

Hi Guy. I saw here you used a private picture from my own website “copspassions”. You didn’t ask me before, so you stole this pic to use it near a nazi picture. I’m a french police sergeant and I don’t like you show me near a german nazi. Thanks to contact me as soon as possible at yand1968@orange.fr. If not, I will use all my power to track you and my lawyer will ask you more money than me.

It is odd that you chose to be an asshole, rather than ask me politely. Hey, but that is your choice.

You should be aware that the use of copyrighted material as part of a parody is supported by the first amendment- especially if it does not overtly identify the person. Perhaps you should not have posted so many pictures of yourself on the web in that uniform.

Here is some background: Hustler Magazine v. Falwell

FYI, the image you talk about is no longer on my site.

To ask you politely ??… and I’m an asshole ?? Who are you for speaking like that about me ? Did you ask me politely before using my picture ? So I shit on your first US amendment and on you. Your blog is a big joke !!….. just a last thing : FUCK YOU !!!

In any case, the composite picture/meme in that post is not hosted on my site.
