Another Tasteless Prediction about the Future: Dec 3, 2011

Posts in this new series are my dystopic speculations and predictions about how the near future might turn out. In any case, I am more qualified to predict the future than some white moron from an ivy-league university or oxbridge who lacks the ability to see past their favorite delusion.

My tasteless prediction for today is- People who work in the medical profession might start dying at the hands of potential patients.

Inspite of what physicians and other health “professionals” think, health care is widely seen as a public utility. Denial of timely and effective health care because of the persons inability to pay is seen as a form of murder- at least in countries where most people have functioning toilets and clean drinking water. While people will overlook some amount of greed and negligence from health care “professionals”, they will not tolerate it without retaliation once things spiral past their individual tolerance.

I believe that the demographic profile of western countries in combination with the dominance of neoliberalism, the gutting of social safety nets AND the greed of medical “professionals” will create a particularly nasty scenario. It goes something like this-

An increasing number of people who are ill might suffer or die from the lack of adequate healthcare due to their financial situation. The internet will allow such stories to spread and start creating public outrage which will cause these “professionals” to adopt an even more defensive and absurd posture. Moreover the dissemination of information via the internet has destroyed the information monopoly of most branches of medicine and others have been exposed as useless or barely useful.

It is therefore likely that, at some stage, people will start targeting and killing medical “professionals” and their kids.

Such killings might occur through conventional or unconventional means. Emptying a ammo clip into somebody or burning them alive with a gallon of gasoline has pretty much the same end result. Initially such incidents will be seen as isolated acts by ‘madmen’, but the knee-jerk reaction of medical “professionals” to such incidents and spread of information about individual cases through non-mainstream channels will eventually normalize such behavior.

What do you think? Comments?

Could not be too soon. Medicos are scum bags. I would trust a vet better in most cases.

“An increasing number of people who are ill might suffer or die from the lack of adequate healthcare due to their financial situation.”

    Isn’t this already happening?

The tipping point has to be obvious.

    hahahaha,

diablo, if you kill all the doctors, who will prescribe your boner pills and std medications?

Why should you not be able to buy medicines without prescription?

  4. December 4, 2011 at 10:32 am

i dunno diablo, maybe they worked that prescription thing into the system so you would “need” them and thus not kill them…

you are a funny egghead-good thing I don’t take you serious but funny to see the white power guys get all butt as hurt for saying the same things they do, just changing the races….

I’ve thought the same thing and so has Hollywood (c.f that Denzel Washington movie John Q.)

I suspect though it will be insurance people first, softer targets at first, less public blow back (everyone hates them) and they don’t have the patina of respect the M.D.’s do.

Healthcare is a not this huge of an issue for most people. Barely any of the leading/actual causes of death in America are even remotely related to healthcare deliverance. They’re mostly lifestyle related.

Also most of those ‘online stories’ are fucking fake. It’s really hard to die from a lack of insurance in America, if you have a chronic condition there are tons of charities out there that help people cover the costs the healthcare.

Now as usual the people in the middle-upper middle (shrinking population though) get crunched; too rich to get help, too poor to afford decent coverage with their condition.

Regardless what branches of medicine do you feel are legitimate? What about surgery?

We aren’t even killing bankers, yet. This is a LONG way off… and even if it does happen I would guess it will be only a few very isolated incidents. Only a small portion of the population is sick enough to have an issue, and what very small percentage of them would wig out like that… not enough to start a trend, I would think.

This will happen first. Anger turned inward, before it’s turned outward by surviving relatives.

Antibiotics if misused are a threat to everybody since they breed super germs. Other drugs are another matter

The bulk of antibiotics produced in the world are used under poor supervision in animal husbandry- so we are already doing far worse.

I don’t entirely disagree. Also a lot of people are aware that once the fan is started and the merde thrown, its a civilizational endgame. Most of them are unwilling to condemn everything they have know to the ashheap of history

Also unlike a lot of other things is actually possible to put inherent fairness in the medical system and its even possible it may happen. Even with mediocre coverage, Medicare for all would be regarded as generally fair.

If the insurance lobbyists can be dealt out, its even possible. Corporation would support it (healthier workforce) as well. However it would require some structural reforms to happen and would require a bi-partisan effort to keep government from getting too authoritarian. The US Progressives and Corporatists have a habit of telling people how to live their lives in some ways worse then the Right Wingers. One of these days they kick the wrong dog and end up in a bad hurt. If they can be kept away from the food supply and mandating exercise and all the things their power hungry little diseased hearts covet, it doable. Otherwise, not as much.

So very true. Worse as most of this stakes place in places like China, even if the US had the will to do something there is little they could do. They only real option is to block trade and commerce and go isolationist. That while a good idea in some ways is not going to happen, at least till there is a big die-back and by than it may be too late.

I’d like to point out that Matt knew he was full of shit, but lied anyway.

The question is, who would be stupid enough to trust anything the Matt creature says?

The answer is you, dear reader. You are stupid enough to believe anything he says.

Yes, you’re a small-dicked east indian guy who is obsessed with porn. You have to pay women to touch you, as you detailed in your posts about escorts.

As a practical foreigner with dark skin, you feel out of place in America. Yet you’re also alienated from your parents culture as well. Because of this, you lash out in anger at traditional American views (what you call “CONservatism”), and wish death upon people who you don’t like.

Meh, maybe over here in Urop. That is, if we would have such a ridiculous Health-care system.

You ´mericans are to pussyfied to even dare thinking about putting those useless guns of yours to work.

Nah, the TV, “enhanced” cell-towers and flouride water makes sure you´ll all stand in line at the chipping stations, when the time comes.
Just like you´re already standing in line at the TSA Gestapo molesting and irradiating stations.

Absolutely, Hans. The dregs of ‘people’ left over after the second world war are no longer capable of anything, they have been thoroughly divested of their souls and are become true automatons.

This is why the prediction in this article will probably not materialize in any significant way. We are not even dealing with a strong peasantry capable of fighting and dying with passion, ala the Russian or German of yesteryear; there is no longer any depth to the formerly human creatures around you. Savages are an exception, and so they are idolized by our ‘culture’, but they are stupid and unruly and their passions are random, rarely governed by anything resembling noble outrage.

Gutted men and women abound, dehumanization is complete. Ex mortis libertas will probably become the predominant anticipation of intelligent men.

People being unready to kill for a slight is a product of the Industrial age. It would be hard to run an assembly line with proud violent men willing to kill. I’d say all of us traded some degree of pride for a steady meal. Just like a domesticated wolf. though we are not all whipped dogs yet.

But as we are not fools and have not reached true crisis, few among us want to destroy our society. And yes a hard push would end the country as either a military dictatorship or a civil war or worse. And as we are so divided and uncertain, we have no idea what to rebuild into either.

Better to do nothing than pay the price we would pay.

    AD,
I got a very tasteless question:
“Isn’t it better for patients to let them die than suffer?”
Maybe you can write a post about it.

Actually I am working on that and a few other topics.
