Delayed Gratification is the Mark of Suckerhood

In some of my earliest posts on this blog, I had suggested that anybody who works for a promise that is functionally unenforceable is a sucker. As some of you might know- many white “high IQ” morons constant drone about something called “future time orientation” being a mark of intelligence. This concept is linked to the idea of delayed gratification being linked to success in your life, or something along those lines.

Here is what I have to say to those who believe in either “future time orientation” or “delayed gratification”- SUCKERS!

To understand why I see them as suckers, you have to first list and then analyze the validity of their beliefs.

1. The amount of sacrifice and delayed gratification has a worthwhile relation with the quality of life.

2. Their sacrifices will be recognized, respected and compensated.

3. The very act of pursuing delayed gratification marks them as magically superior to those who chose otherwise.

4. Their act of sacrifice will have some positive impact on their future- directly or indirectly.

I will now ask a few unpleasant questions to the morons who believe in “future time orientation” and “delayed gratification”.

Does working your ass of to become a doctor or lawyer give you the time to enjoy the money you are making? Was the amount of time spent (and years of your youth wasted) becoming a high-income professional really worth it? The same is true for scientists, engineers and many other professionals who spend years of their youth slaving away so that they might be able to have a somewhat better car and house. Who gets laid more- the median drummer in a mediocre band or a neurosurgeon? Who has a better life when they can enjoy it- a guy who spends his youth surfing or some frail pale-faced moron who slaves in academia? I could give you more examples and rub it harder in your face – but that is not my intention (at this moment).

Then there is the issue about your sacrifices being recognized, respected and rewarded. Do you believe that the guys who wrote and optimized iOS and Android are making a fraction of the money their MBA bosses are making? Why not? What about those Chinese workers who assemble iPhones for a buck or two an hour? What about those graduate students who slaved to get something done, only to find out that their herculean efforts are worth a 41k/year postdoc- if they are lucky. What about programers, engineers and scientists who get laid off once they hit their early 50s?

and how does being a willing slave make you morally superior to someone who is not that stupid?

Finally, let us honestly ask ourselves- Does slaving under the delusion of superiority make your life any better? Does it result in substantially lower risk of divorce, a sexless marriage or conflict-ridden relationships with women? Does it insure that your kids will give a fuck about you when they grow up? Does it make bankers any less likely to steal your retirement money? Would the people who approve of you because of your current status not abandon you if you fell on hard times- due to no fault of yours?

So why willingly slave for somebody? What is in it for you?

Comments?

So why willingly slave for somebody? What is in it for you?

You shouldn’t. However thats not future time orientation. Thats called making choices.

Future time orientation is more along the lines of “I’ll buy a big box of nails for my whole project rather than however many I think I need right now.” Its greater efficiencies applied through being able to think ahead.

Its also about making long term projects possible. If you take value in those projects, whatever they are its worth putting something else off. Spend a year to learn carpentry and build a house that gives you more long term satisfaction or live in the hovel you can build now, its up to you. Get a job in Academia you enjoy (assuming you like that sort of thing) or do something else.

Not everyone has this capability and cultures that don’t have trouble gaining material prosperity or doing anything very complex. A comfortable life does require a baseline amount of this ability, if only to be able to build factories and such that work.

However what you are saying about slaving for others is quite true, the corporate state is a rapacious monster that gives nothing its not forced to and only that grudgingly and since none of the safety bets will exist anyway, might as well do what makes you happy now.

The Hippies of course figured this out nearly 50 years ago but its basically starve the beast …

I hate work and don’t work fulltime so I am somewhat closer to the “surfer” than the 41k post doc….

somehow though, I don’t think this is really a “work to live vs. live to work ” arguement you are presenting….

I think you are probably guilty that your lack of savings in relations to your overeducated peers makes you feel guilty……

Well, I guess that makes ALL doctors, lawyers, PhDs suckers. So we can throw out language, modern medicine, all of science, writing and families.

If this is tied in with your ideal society, it would appear you are taking us back to the stone age. We should live like animals, not men.

Maybe you didn’t get the point. But the whole point of this article is: success and innovation is not relative to gratification. In fact, he says: “This concept is linked to the idea of delayed gratification being linked to success in your life, or something along those lines.”

The whole propaganda that you should make sacrifices to succeed and to be gratified at the end is a scam.

Just to give you an example: most of “the guys who wrote and optimized iOS and Android” are not sexually gratified except through masturbation. Masturbation was their only sexual outlet. Plus, most of them are not monks. Since, the difference between masturbation and sex is the presence of a woman, they could have been gratified with women instead of their own hands. This would not affect their productivity because the sexual outlet would have happened one way or another. Now, bear in mind that most of those suckers were doing those jobs and slaving their selves in order to get pussy at the end.

I will now ask a few unpleasant questions to the morons who believe in “future time orientation” and “delayed gratification”.

I’ll give a few answers on the advantages of future time orientation:
    1. Those who have it can choose to exercise it or to “live in the moment”. Those who don’t have no such freedom of choice.
    2. Doing away with future time orientation in favor of short-term gain sets up a tragedy-of-the-commons situation. Your pigeonholing people with it as necessarily being “suckers” doesn’t make any more sense than calling a fisherman a sucker for refusing to overfish a lake and try and bypass his allotted quota.
    3. For all their possible deficiencies (they can’t get laid or whatever), Android developers at least have the satisfaction of craftsmanship and the ability to create something from nothing. Their MBA bosses are stuck with transferring wealth and don’t have the means of being directly productive.
    4. Not all of life is about getting laid.
    5. You might be more convincing if you moved to a country where low time-orientation is the norm. They’re uniformly crappy places to live.
    6. With reference to #5, it appears that your viewpoint is a beggar-thy-neighbor policy where you depend on the largesse of a larger group that doesn’t share your belief system. It reminds me of pacifists – a country of them would be defenseless against invasion. The same is true for polygynous Mormon sects – they can’t possibly be self-sufficient but require the presence of a larger society in order to dump their surplus males.

I will agree that those people who slave away in school studying something they don’t like to get a job that they don’t really want are fools. But what happened to going to school and studying because you want to? I guess I’ve just been tricked into thinking that I want to study science by the corporate elites to do shit for them in exchange for cash and not because I want to. Posts like these make me think you lack a single constructive bone in your body, for all the talk of reforming society to take power from corporate elites.

This post has made me reconsider my opinion of you. This post, in combination with your advocacy of prostitution leads me to believe that you want things without suffering or working hard to get them. You need to be willing to put in work for your own sake in order to get what you want. I thought you were some revolutionary thinker who had ideas about how to make the world a better place. Now I think you simply lack self-discipline or work ethic, even when it benefits you.

If pussy can be easily bought with money, why then do you need to waste the best days of your life and to suffer in order to get pussy?

I’d by lying if I wrote that school or work was always a pleasure. But the times I was focused on learning something simply out of desire to master it or to create something were magical, some of the best of my life. The pleasures of the flesh (i.e. partying, booze, sex) are trivial distractions in comparison.

This post, in combination with your advocacy of prostitution leads me to believe that you want things without suffering or working hard to get them.

To his possible credit, human laziness can have its constructive side. I’ve seen lots of problems solved in my own field (software development) due to the author’s aversion to doing the same-old/same-old again and again. So laziness combined with creativity can be a powerful engine.

You need to be willing to put in work for your own sake in order to get what you want.

That can be kind of tough with a purely mercenary “what’s in it for me” attitude. For a polar opposite contrast, take Ryu. As much as I disagree with his white nationalism ethos, I have to tip my hat to his intellectual curiosity and desire for self-improvement. How much of that do we see at Diablo’s website?

I thought you were some revolutionary thinker who had ideas about how to make the world a better place.

Could be, but I’ve noticed that the guys who change the world most of the time aren’t so much the ones who were a fountain of new ideas but got enough of the details right to convert them to something useful. In plain English, they got shit done.

Well, as WNs we need to go much further than AD. We are interested in making things work, not tearing them down.

It’s like building a house. Hire anyone you like to tear down the old structure – it doesn’t take much skill. When you are actually building the house, you want the best material and the most motivated workers.

I cannot think of very many authors on the internet who are actually interested in rebuilding a society. That’s what WN is really about – forget our other issues. All the others: PUAs, PUTs, MRAs, mongers are really about bringing the current system down.

How to motivate other people not to be selfish and piggish? That’s a hard problem to solve, but we’re making progress. Strangely, the more racism is outlawed, the more WNs come together. It takes a powerful reason to make people work together. It’s much easier to go the other direction, every man for himself.

You need to be willing to put in work for your own sake in order to get what you want.

So, Snipe, that means if the work WILL NOT get me what I want, then I shouldn’t put it in.

    Sounds about right.

Hehe, true. The real meaning for delayed gratification is:

“YOU young man delay your gratification for LATER so I OLD man can have my gratification NOW”

    Pretty much, another CONservative scam.

QUOTE: “This post, in combination with your advocacy of prostitution leads me to believe that you want things without suffering or working hard to get them.”

I am no fan of AD but as someone who also indulges in sex care workers I have to say that you have to work VERY HARD to patron them on a regular basis. If you rely on professional girlfriends…if you are unemployed you dont get any it’s as simple as that and if you want to enjoy quality professional girlfriends on a regular basis…then you need to put in the hours, work hard to get a raise/promotion and save money.

I think this post is correct as I have personally seen a lot of what this post says, being brainwashed early on from controlling religions and “powerful” schools promoting passivity by always saying constantly to put things off until another day in the future (such as, no sex until marriage, and get good grades to someday get a “good job” to then someday be able to retire with social security), but they never say that someday may never come and the days when you were alive and able to experience personal gratification are lost. They don’t promote “don’t put off until tomorrow what you can (and what YOU want to) do today.” Then in the real world I learned that the original Greek word for fornication originally had nothing to do with pre-marital or non-marital “relations” and relgions in the 1400s changed the meaning of that word and thus were able to further brainwash and control the sex lives of millions of people, and also grades do not even help to get “better jobs” to be a slave making a higher salary, but by sacrificing yourself to them and giving them power over you to control your life by delaying your own gratification (doing what they say to do and not doing what you want to do now) the controlling religious “leaders” and the “all powerful” schools have used you to maintain their control/salaries, and after they have sucked up your mental blood (and usually also your money) then YOU are left with no gratification.
