Why Ferdinand Bardamu Burnt Out

I did consider publishing this post after tomorrows (June 4) official announcement by Ferdinand Bardamu about closing down InMalaFide and its subsidiary blogs. However the notice has already been published by another blogger. Therefore I will just go on with my initial take on the possible chain of events that led to this unfortunate event.

While his decision to, at least temporarily, quit the blogging world is unfortunate- it was sorta predictable. So let us analyze the sequence of events which led to it.

I believe that it came down to Ferdinand Bardamu feeling really burnt out.

It began with overcommitment.

1. Overcommitment makes people stressed, unhappy and drains their creativity.

When he started IMF, FB had a boring and easy government job which probably left him tons of time to do everything else. While blogging on topics you like to write about is fairly easy and quick- going through the blog posts of others, writing comments on other blogs, starting flame wars takes time and effort. However such activities can still be accommodated by someone with a normal job without burning out. I believe that FBs burnout began when he tried to do all of the above + maintain an active social life + run a business+ look for new career opportunities + work in a hectic job. It is hard to sustain that level of effort regardless of your age or compensation for extended periods of time.

Thinking or writing creatively and doing so with enthusiasm requires a reasonably stable life. Juggling too many balls at once creates unnecessary stress making the mind less creative.

There was however one peculiar factor, mentioned below, that probably hastened this process – his decision to monetize the blog.

2. Monetizing the blog was probably a bad idea.

I strongly favor people monetizing content based on, or derived from, their blogs. However monetizing the blog itself with ads, especially if you are also responsible for the business side of these deals is a recipe for stress. The reality is that doing so requires the blogger to spend too much time on aspects of the blog which do not contribute to the material. Whether it is buying and modifying blog templates themes, using visitor analytic software, negotiating rates for advertisements or cross promotion deals- it just makes peoples stressed, bitter and unhappy.

FB probably ended up spending an ever-increasing amount of his blogging time on monetization related activities which required hard work but yielded rather meager compensation. I can understand how the bitterness of this aspect of his blogging activities might have sucked the happiness of writing posts etc.

He tried to compensate for that with a multi-writer format thereby giving him some breathing space and hopefully adding some more breadth of topics to the blog. However..

3. The focus of the multi-writer version of IMF was still too narrow and topics were too repetitive.

The breadth of topics and focus of IMF were perfectly adequate for a single or 2-3 writer blog. Switching to a multi-writer format should have considerably increased the breadth of what was posted. However it did not do that and, if anything, made it more repetitive. Reading multiple posts by more than one writer about how blacks are beating up “poor” whites, how masturbation is bad for you or how traditional lifestyles should be restored kinda gets boring after a while. I considered providing FB a lot of material on a range of topics and issues (above and beyond reposts) but felt that the multi-writer blog had already become rather fixated on issues which did not interest me.

When you combine the repetitiveness of the multi-writer blog with the frustration of juggling too many balls and spending most of his blogging time on monetizing the blog, it is no wonder that FB might have started to hate running IMF.

I will write more about this topic in the next few days.

What do you think? Comments?

I keep wondering, how do you manage to keep a high frequency of posts here?
Do you work really less? Like 5-6 hours per day.

My job has lots of free time + I can write stuff very quickly.

Mobile computing technology also helps- Pocket PC (2001-2006), Laptop (2001-today) , Sidekick (2003-2008), iPhone (2008-today).

As someone who has struggled with burnout from overwork as well, let me say this: it’s a risk you run no matter what. To publish regularly, you have to make your blog a job. And unless you get 200,000 people a day coming in, and they want to buy dumb products, you’re not going to make enough money at it to justify the high time expenditure UNLESS your other job option was entry-level in the service industries.

“Reading multiple posts by more than one writer about how blacks are beating up “poor” whites, how masturbation is bad for you or how traditional lifestyles should be restored kinda gets boring after a while.”

Agreed…. to much similarity in worldviews…. like an echo chamber of sorts….

I’m super proud of this post though….

AD- do you think that IMF becoming a haven of white supremacists had anything to do with his burnout? If I were FB I’d feel pretty bad if my multi-issue site just became a haven for that kind of stuff. Toward the end that’s almost what it seemed to be.

I liked FB’s links because it gave my blog some traffic, and I hope at least a few people got to see my posts criticizing the Alt-right. But it’s clear that IMF was starved for content, especially these last few months. I think IMF peaked when FB attacked Koch & Co., as well as various feminist idiots.

That it became a white supremacist haven at the end was an indicator that FB was tired and wasn’t able to keep things straight.

He seemed to cosign a lot of the white supremacist bullshit himself anyway, so it doesn’t really matter. He did that Trayvon is a worthless thug piece, and in a comment admitted that he regretted the one anti-White Supremacist piece he ever did and said he considered them valuable allies. There’s no way he could allow that stuff so long without agreeing with it in some shape or form.

Yes, that is why I found it harder to keep on contributing to his blog.

It is absolutely insane for anyone in the first world to seriously attempt to monetize a blog. Why? Because a first worlder has living expenses next to which blog income can never be more than a drop in the bucket. Meanwhile, third worlders have a much lower cost of living, and so they can compete like hell against you.

It’s sad to hear Ferdinand will be closing down… he’s been an institution, it’s really shocking.

Stopped reading almost immediately after he put that oh so “smartassy-ironical” devil sign on his blog. You know that twitter “man´o´sphere” thingy.
Some people are too damn symbol-illiterate for their own good.

And quite frankly the blog didn´t add anything new to my insights anyway.

i felt the content was a bit repetitive, as is the case with much of the manosphere’s diatribes/complaints/discontent in general.

A general ennui (as he puts it in his final post) and dissatisfaction that remains difficult to nail down.

i think the time versus cost expenditure caught up with him.
no one ventures into the undertaking of in mala fide and then quits if it’s more than supporting itself as an endeavor.

but if like he said, he landed a better opportunity, i wish him the best.
i didn’t agree with the far right pro-white leanings of some of it, but nonetheless he contributed to the discussion for both good and ill

He wanted to make money in IMF but couldnt refine a working model. He needed a sugar daddy. There is no other model.

If you become a White Supremacist, and want to keep your race pure, your daughter will be violated. You can have racial purity(autosomal DNA) or male sexual honor(Y-haplotype) but not both at the same time. It is inevitable. It is a law of nature. The White race can only survive in the harems of Saudi-Arabia. Otherwise, the White race will be destroyed by a hell of rape(Allah) or a heaven of seduction(Iblis). Only by promising Arab women a place in the harem of the European man, and awakening their hypergamy, can Europe break the sexual spell of Islam. The Muslim harem exerts a powerful attraction to White women. The White woman is Allah’s great whore. The White race was never pure to begin with. During the Neolithic, Arab feminists invaded Europe, and seduced the local men. The mothers of Europe were Arabs. If a White man murders a Jewish or Muslim woman, he is murdering his own mother. The European Union is dedicated to Mary, a Jewish woman. The Battle of Lepanto was won by the Rosary.

    Agreed 100%.

In Mala Fide was at it’s peak when Bardamu kept it simple. I liked it the most when it was just him basically and a few guests. When he began to get more and more immersed into the blogging world (comments, flame wars, linkage posts, etc) he began to post less and less. Then to keep his blog afloat he opened it up to new writers. The tone of the site changed, the quality declined, topics became repetitive, Bardamu was even more absent. Quitting came as no surprise to me. The signs were everywhere.
