Interesting YouTube Channel: Jimi the Hobo

I recently came across an interesting YouTube channel which, apparently, is a self-documentation of the life a homeless guy who lives in a car. I found this channel particularly interesting because it is a pretty good depiction of the extent of socio-economic insecurity for the majority of people in USA.

Link to Channel – Jimi the Hobo

It seems that this guy had a decent, if somewhat physically demanding, career that allowed him to enjoy a ‘middle-class’ lifestyle for decades. Then an accident, of some sort, made it impossible for him to continue in his previous career- even after recovery. Anyway, from there on things went downhill.

One of his other video clips might also be of special interest to many readers of this blog.

What do you think? Comments?

I would say the reasons behind:
“this guy had a decent, if somewhat physically demanding, career that allowed him to enjoy a ‘middle-class’ lifestyle for decades. Then an accident, of some sort, made it impossible for him to continue in his previous career- even after recovery.”
is because he was working for someone else, did not diversify his skills (to make him more self-employed) or stayed at the same place for too long without playing office politics.
Of course, being married means he had less time to do all that.

And it’s no praise either to have to be aware of how much life for a regular person in most societies is “one false step and you’re done for, now and in the future”.

On the other hand, look at people like Weiner, Gordon Ramsay and the Clintons … misake after mistake, and (to paraphrase Baron Mordo) “the bill doesn’t come due”.

EDIT: Of course, having a shit wife, is the biggest torpedo he could have gotten.
Protip: The woman HAS TO BE MORE ATTRACTED TO YOU, than you are to her.
If you have to be a simp, or a grovelling slave to be with one:
      – either hire a sex worker
      – contract a runaway
      – or be alone.

The reality is that unless she is more attracted to you than you are to her:
when the time comes to end the relationship … the man will be “forced to compensate her for wasting her time”.

I’m sorry for his predicament, but he married a woman without really knowing her just because he’d knocked her up. He’s a perfect example of how his lower head did more of his thinking than did his upper head. Now he’s going to pay…and pay…and pay…for the rest of his life, because he didn’t just pay the paternity for the first kid and leave the brood mare alone in the future.

However, taking a more careful look at the channel, he is in Phnom Penh, being able to live decently without a (regular) job, and “teaching himself coding or computer programming”.
Hmm, given the bias many Asian countries have for putting the white person ahead of (properly qualified) Asians … looks like he might have a brilliant future, either as a “Manager” in a software development company, or as an “English teacher”.

Not sure that this is a sob story, white people heading to Asian don’t have it nearly as tough as Asians going to white people countries.

Ya, that is true. Then again, he was only there for a short time. Also, he lived pretty cheaply.

Reaction are a little disappointing. Pretty low on sympathy:
    1. When you become part of anything (family, marriage, whatever) you can never oversee how everything will develop: that’s what’s known as life.
    2. The world is full of people who can just manage some job without having the wherewithall to play the strategic possibilities artfully.
In a ‘normal’ community your standing will slide after an accident, but everybody in the tribe, clan or family is taken care of to the best standards that can be practically mustered. If not, the community falls apart. Blaming him seems to be missingn the point, methinks. I’m not saying it’s all a terrible injustice. He seems like a pretty regular guy, and illustrates how desparate your situation can become if a few things take a wrong turn, with basically nothing to fall back on.

As you know, I have written about social atomization (especially feedback-related effects) in my older posts.

He took a huge risk when he moved back in with this woman who had lied and done her best to ruin him. As he says, he knew she had the power to pull the chord on him any time– but I’d say all in all he got off lucky…When she pulled the chord she just kicked him out. She could have cooked up some accusation to land his ass in jail.

But it is also odd– he doesn’t explain why he’d lived like that for four years with a woman he’d divorced, then it was he who was plotting to abruptly move out. It sounds as if the woman had a decent job and he was freeloading, but I’m not sure that’s right, either. He was taking expensive vacations during that time, even planning to go to Europe with his daughters. I don’t think you can trust his account, even though he seems like a decent enough guy. There must be missing pieces.

This man (“Jimi the Hobo”) is a scam artist and e-Fraudster.

Check username “Jimi the Hobo Fraud” on Youtube for overwhelming of this.

“Jimi the Hobo” is taking advantage of people’s goodwill and sympathy.

I was aware of that even when first linking to those videos.

The only reason I linked those videos is that both the situations he described in those videos are fairly common. I know others (in person) whose lifestyle took a huge hit after accidents or illnesses that affected their ability to perform their previous occupations. Also, almost everybody knows one or many men whose lives were screwed by divorce, alimony payments and contentious child custody battles.

Jimi The Hobo (I removed that info) is also attempting to scam the US Social Security Administration with a bogus disability claim. He claims that his “bad back” is the reason why he is disabled. But in his recent videos you can see him driving himself around, moving heavy boxes and furniture around, and even strenuously exercising. It’s clearly obvious that he is nowhere near disabled. So please take a moment to file a disability fraud report with the SSA here: https://oig.ssa.gov/report You can make an anonymous report and all that is needed is his name, his nickname and the state that he lives in which is New Mexico. Thank you.

I wish you had the same reaction to all those super rich people and corporations who rip off the system to the extent of multiple billions of dollars.. each.

Joe American, just because you see him moving heavy boxes and furniture around that doesn’t mean he can do it on a consistent basis without it eventually effecting his back.
