Quick Thoughts on Deplatforming of Alex Jones by Internet Monopolies

Over the past few days, but especially today, I noticed that many “liberals” on the internet show us their collective orgasm-face as internet corporate monopolies such as YouTube, FaceBook and Apple progressively deplatformed the Alex Jones show. It was darkly comic to watch one allegedly “liberal” commentator after the other enthusiastically defend corporate monopolies while spouting all the shitty arguments made by “libertarians” regarding corporate rights. Though I have nothing but contempt for CONservatives, I am no fan of establishment-worshiping LIEbrals either.

While I have no love for Alex Jones or his show, the idea that monopolistic corporations can cut off essential services to their users without any worthwhile legal recourse is highly problematic. Sure.. Alex Jones is a greedy shithead, but a society which cheers on as large corporations mistreat their customers based on some highly subjective moral standard is even more fucked up. Think about it.. how many of the idiots cheering those monopolies today would feel the same if their electric utility cut them off based on what they read, saw or who they associated with.

Then again, these are the same idiots who believe that removing guns from hands of average people while doing nothing about progressive militarization of police in USA is a great idea. They also think that unreliable “renewable energy” can magically displace conventional power plants and how forcing everyone to be vegetarian is a fantastic idea. And then they wonder why all their SJW-driven, “celebrity”-promoted and “ivy-league” endorsed beliefs result them in losing the 2016 election against a reality show clown. But who cares about reality outside their bubbles..

Anyway, I will make one prediction about the most likely result of this enthusiastic support for corporate monopolistic power suppressing free (if tasteless) speech. To make a long story short, the precedent they are cheering today is guaranteed to come back and bite them in the ass soon- most likely before 2020. They are not going to be able to keep basking in the glow of this “success” for long- not unlike Gollum after he finally got his hands on the ‘One Ring’ inside Mount Doom.

What do you think? Comments?

we have already seen this happen with Andrew Anglin…

One thing, that I think “protects” these companies is that both AJ and AA were involved with civil lawsuits related to libel. (I’m not a lawyer, nor do I play one on TV- I think I got fucked by one, a lady one at that but I wasn’t able to put it as a “notch” on slimy Rooshies site as it felt more like rape…)

also, it seems funny how little understanding of technology these “libertarians” seem to have. You can talk about free speech all day long but if you can’t use the “infrastructure,” you are fucked. Kind of like if you are wealthy enought to buy a sports car and pay for registration, but all the roads are undrivable unless you have a tank or an offroad vehicle.

The deplatforming had already begun much earlier, breitbart.com talked about it around the time James Damore …
    and this:
    https://www.breitbart.com/tech/2018/04/27/court-seals-documents-for-google-in-james-damore-case/
Google has filed a motion in court to seal documents pertaining to James Damore’s class-action lawsuit against them, arguing that the documents were causing their employees to be “harassed.” In response, the court has agreed to seal the records for two months. Google is also branding critics of their far-left diversity policies as “alt-right” according to Damore’s attorney.
“They have sealed it for a two-month period, believe it or not.” said Harmeet Dhillon, the attorney representing Damore and the other plaintiffs in the lawsuit.

The lawsuit documents, which can still be accessed via Dhillon’s website, have been a source of multiple news stories about Google. Most recently, Breitbart News reported on new evidence published in the latest filing, which shows that Google cautions its managers against rewarding the values of “white-male dominant culture,” including “individual achievement” and “objectivity.” The documents also show that Google has failed to discipline employees who threatened their co-workers for holding differing points of view.

In typical chickenshit fashion, many if not all the employees outside Google USA … don’t know anything about this case, won’t comment about it, or just think “this is just another instance of office politics”.

Feminism got where it is with many people just thinking “Eh, it’s just women being emotional, let them have their way” …
now looks like the censorship is trying to go under a similar platform “Eh, it’s just a clash of personality within the company”.

P.S. In another “clash of company culture”, Google may be setting up a special version of its search engine for use in China. “Don’t be evil” stopped being their motto some time back …

Alex Jones is an entertainer. Only very low information listeners would take anything he says seriously.

But the idea that Alex Jones was a customer of Youtube, Facebook, …. is wrong headed.

Companies like Google (Youtube) and Facebook let you upload your content, store it and publish it for you for nothing. You are not paying anything for their services. They do this because they hope to sell advertisements next to your content. If they decide your content is not appropriate for them to sell advertising next too, they should have the right to refuse to publish it for you.

Alex Jones was never Google or Facebook’s customer, His content was the product Google and Facebook are selling to advertisers. If advertisers do not want their ads associated with Alex Jones content, why should Google or Facebook be forced to store and publish it?

The first amendment says Congress shall make no law …abridging the freedom of speech, but it does not say that publisher are required to publish your speech for free.

Now let us use your same “logic” for cases involving bakers refusing to serve gay couples, private corporations discriminating against blacks or gays, housing associations discriminating against non-whites, pharmacists refusing to fill birth-control prescriptions.. you get the point, right?

“Now let us use your same “logic” for cases involving bakers refusing to serve gay couples, private corporations discriminating against blacks or gays, housing associations discriminating against non-whites, pharmacists refusing to fill birth-control prescriptions.. you get the point, right?”

From what I understand Alex Jones was banned for advocating violence and harassment. I’m sure that Alex Jones lawyer would claim that his show is just entertainment and any suggestion of violence were meant in jest.

In that case, why did they wait for so many years to do so? He has been spouting virtually the same stuff since his show got online many years ago. One has to assume that they were either too retarded to do their job or deliberately neglectful of their alleged duties. So which one is it- retarded or malicious?

Alex Jones was a big promoter of the Pizzagate conspiracy theory and Edgar Welch apparently did not realize it was only a joke. Welch drove from North Carolina with an assault rife and chased all the employees out of the Comet Ping Pong restaurant before firing the rife into the ceiling. After he discovered that there were no children being held in the basement and in fact the restaurant did not have a basement, he surrendered to police.

Alex Jones also has claimed that the Sandy Hook shooting was a hoax and no children were killed there. Some parents of children killed at Sandy Hook have been harassed and threatened by Jones followers. Jones is currently involved in several law suites over this.

By that token, what do you suggest should be done to all those mainstream journalists working in corporate media outlets who promoted the failed invasion of Iraq under false pretext in 2003. Should they be also taken off air for promoting a lie which resulted in the untimely death of somewhere around 500,000 Iraqis? Oh.. and USA still lost that war. Also what about all those journalist who cheerlead the Vietnam War in 1960s?

FYI- I support the parents suing him for libel and defamation in court. Let us see how that goes..

If Jones’ program is only intended as entertainment, apparently a lot of his listeners don’t know that. There has been real world violence and harassment as a result of the conspiracy theories Jones promotes.

And how is that different from endlessly promoting that Iraq had WMDs in 2002? Also, thousands of times more people died in that conflict.

The Google and Facebook TOS forbid the use of their platform to advocate violence or harassment. Alex Jones has clearly been violating the TOS.

And they woke to that last week? Why? Also have you ever read the complete TOS of any internet service or software you have ever used?

I know for a fact that Google removes YouTube content all the time for TOS violations. Any videos involving nudity are removed, although you can find nudity all over the internet. Videos that involve real violence are frequently removed if they are judged too graphic. And then there is all the shadow banning that goes on for who knows what reason. Google is trying to make YouTube more main stream so they can put it on every TV.

They sanitize YouTube because they want to sell the maximum amount of advertising to milquetoast corporations. Are you stupid enough to believe that their actions have anything to do with faithfully implementing their TOS?

The civil rights act bars discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion or national origin in most kinds of business. It does not bar discrimination based on sexual orientation, although some state laws do and some courts have tried to stretch the civil rights act. It also does not bar discrimination based on political affiliation, although some states do.

I could find that information with a click on any search engine. But the real question is: do you want to give private corporations, especially functional monopolies, the power to do anything they please without any regard to due process? Do you even understand why we have due process, in the first place?

I just find it revealing that so many conservatives are now saying that Alex Jones advocating harassment and violence based on looney conspiracy theories should be considered political speech.

Has Alex Jones ever explicitly told his listeners to go out and kill or hurt one or more specific persons? If not, then what are you talking about? If he has, why has it taken years to do anything about it?

Talking about looney conspiracy theories- don’t you believe in the Trump-Putin-Russia-Collusion stuff, even though there has been no independently and objectively verifiable proof (so far) to support those assertions. Tell me how your belief in that theory is any different from Alex Jones shouting about the Illuminati and Bilderbergs.

“Has Alex Jones ever explicitly told his listeners to go out and kill or hurt one or more specific persons? If not, then what are you talking about? If he has, why has it taken years to do anything about it?”

Apparently on a recent show while taking about the Mueller investigation, Alex Jones imitated firing a gun and said, “You’re going to get it, or I’m going to die trying.”

This apparently was the incident that triggered all the companies to remove Alex Jones’ content.

Have not seen that myself. Also, I have heard similar claims about his show for quite a few years.

“Talking about looney conspiracy theories- don’t you believe in the Trump-Putin-Russia-Collusion stuff, even though there has been no independently and objectively verifiable proof (so far) to support those assertions. There are people with looney conspiracy theories about Trump and Russia, but there is also a lot of real information that looks suspicious and raises questions.

The ones who follow Alex Jones could make similar claims..

A business can refuse service to anyone as long as that refusal isn’t based on age, race, gender, etc. Lots of people have been cut off lately from large media platforms. Alex Jones is just one of the high profile ones.

I have no problem with this move. Alex Jones’ constitutional rights have not been violated. You can say what you want, but I’m under no obligation to allow you to piggyback off my business to spread your message.

First of all, you do not own a majority stake in any of those corporate entities and never will.. not in a million years.

Secondly, by your logic- why should a bakery be forced to bake for a gay wedding. Remember they are not refusing to serve to gay people per se, just refusing to bake a wedding cake- because it against their stupid religious belief or something.

Or what is wrong with a business discriminating against black people as long they don’t use race as sole criteria? Or what is wrong with a “justice” system which disproportionately penalizes poor people from certain neighborhood who happen to largely non-white?

Or what was wrong with arbitrary and rigged “literacy tests” used to intentionally disenfranchise black people in the pre-1965 south. Surely, by your own criteria, they were not “intentionally” discriminating against a group.

Discrimination based on race is illegal. That is why a baker can not refuse to bake a cake based on skin color.

Alex Jones’civil rights have no been violated. A business may refuse service to anyone as long as it’s not based on the protected criteria. Refusal based on skin color would be very easy to prove.

Let me remind you that when Bell telephone system was a monopoly in USA, it could not deny service to people like MLK Jr, Malcom X and pretty much anybody else on that cross-dresser’s (JE Hoover) spying list.

I really love the mental gymnastics lots of you do.

    1. Alex Jones has a history of actually reporting legit information. He also has a history of reporting fake information. This does not make either statement incorrect.
    2. YouTube gives a shit about content. There is literally thousands of kiddy porn vids up on YouTube that they do nothing about. It is also silly to think advertisers have any say at all in where their money goes.

That was the case until a couple of years ago. Now YT is acting all extra-Puritan.

    3. When a society begins to justify itself based on morality then we’re all fucked.
