Inept Western Response to COVID-19 Will Result in Public Backlash: 1

Initially, I considered making this the next post in my previous series about how the coronavirus pandemic will cause the most damage to USA. But upon further thinking, I realized that while the USA is going to suffer the most direct and indirect damage from this pandemic, so would most other western countries- if on a smaller scale. Then it hit me.. the most important reason behind why the western countries would suffer far more damage than east-Asian counterparts has a lot to do with differences in how government is structured (and works) in those two systems. The west, especially in past four decades, have become truly capitalist in that the needs and demands of those who have capital (corporations and very rich) supersede those of everybody else. In contrast, east-Asian countries such as China, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan etc are not capitalist in the same way as western counties, because the demands and needs of society will frequently supersede those of their moneyed classes. Let me explain..

1] Initially, the provincial administration in Hubei tried to first minimize and then cover-up the impact of this outbreak, but failed. Once this became obvious, the central government in China just stepped in put and put incredible amounts of physical and monetary resources to control the outbreak. Most importantly, they did it without any concern to the cost of doing so or potential economic losses which their own moneyed class might suffer. To make a long story short, they put the welfare of majority above the needs and demands of their moneyed class. Their ability to marshal resources to get personal protective gear to affected areas, stop price gouging, maintain law and order, ensure people are fed and taken care of during the ensuing lockdown, remove affected people into quarantine, start dozens of clinical trials is very impressive. Most importantly, they let people who understood the problem (medical experts in infectious diseases) make all important decisions rather than let commercial interests and local capitalists hinder or dilute their recommendations for controlling the outbreak.

But they did not stop at just epidemiological measures to control this outbreak. Soon after the central government got involves, it ordered banks to stop collecting mortgage and loan payments and well as made sure that utilities stopped collecting bills. They made sure that people did not have to worry about pay rents or not having enough money for food and other necessities. To that end, they poured hundreds of billions (at least) into their economy to make sure that people kept getting paid even when they could not work due to being under lockdown. They went so far to make sure that food was regularly delivered to apartment buildings in areas under lock-down and that important functions such as garbage collection, food transport etc were not interrupted. My point is that the Chinese government did a lot to make sure that its own people (at least the majority) did not suffer from the consequences of not being able to work or move about freely when under lockdown because of the outbreak. To summarize, they did everything a competent government which cared for its own citizens would have done.

2] Now compare this to the shitshow currently playing out in western countries. First, they were delusional enough to believe that the outbreak would not spread to the west. This was also when their presstitutes were busy writing editorials about how China’s response was either too much, too little or otherwise “not correct”. They also spent the next two months doing almost nothing useful such as developing and distributing diagnostic tests etc. Then some of these idiots were spending time fantasizing about how this outbreak would destabilize China or Iran. Of course, China has never cared about what some idiots in declining western countries have been saying about them for decades. I remember how even two weeks ago, many credentialed losers in the field of biomedical research in west were busy writing editorials about how China’s approach to testing any drug which might have some therapeutic effect in those patients was a bad idea. We now know who was right, don’t we?

But it gets worse. When it became obvious that the virus had reached and was spreading in parts of northern Italy, governments in the EU were more concerned with potential losses suffered by their capitalist minority than the health of the majority. It does not take a genius to figure out that a sharp but brief shutdown of northern Italy along with a simultaneous massive increase in testing (perhaps with kits imported from South Korea) could have prevented much of the spread we are now seeing in Europe. While Italy, Spain and some other European countries have since implemented such socialist ideas such as freezing mortgage, utility, loan and in some cases rent payments, along with income support, it took them much longer than China to take these obvious steps. My point is that they could done this much earlier and with far better outcome, but a combination of magical racist thinking, obsession with interests of capitalist minority and general lack of competent people in their bureaucracies prevented them from making the right decisions at right time. But, at least, they are finally catching up with reality.

3] The response in USA has, thus far, been the biggest shitshow of them all. And let us be honest about something else- Trump’s contribution to this farce is minor, at best. Many features of the american system which contributed to this farcical response predate Trump, in many cases by a least a couple of decades. The current round of downsizing in public health institutions began under Obama- not unlike putting brown children in cages. Similarly, many governmental programs for developing drugs to treat emerging infectious diseases have been downsized for almost a decade now. Also, institutional sclerosis which prevents the government or companies from trying out new ideas under extreme circumstances has been a feature of biomedical research in USA for over two decades. We also cannot forget how concentrating research money into a few “prestigious” universities filled with mediocre credentialed but highly politically connected researchers has destroyed the quality of research in this country.

The response in USA to this pandemic has similarly been pathetic and comically inept. They have closed down the livelihood of over 100 million people (most of whom live paycheck to paycheck) without offering them prompt economic relief in the form of no-strings attached governmental money. They are still pretending that young people have the same risk of death from infection as boomers- something, which is going to backfire real soon. They are trying to bail out corporations without making sure that average people are bailed out first. They have offered no timeline for the return of normalcy. They have offered no hope to people in the form of of-label use of drugs which might reduce mortality in high-risk groups. Trump promoting Hydroxychloroquine or Chloroquine + Azithromycin to reduce viral loads and thus mortality is the probably the only good thing that has come out of the government, so far. And ya.. there is enough evidence that these drugs have some therapeutic effect- especially if given early in course of disease.

In the next part, I will write about how the poorly thought out shutdowns in combination with inadequate income and other support for most people will likely cause epically bad public reactions all over USA in the next two weeks. And yes, I am willing to bet that the legislative critters in Washington DC won’t be able to get their shit together and pass something that will stave off the beginnings of widespread social unrest in about two weeks. FYI- two weeks is about the length of time most people in USA can go without a paycheck. Did I mention that public trust in institutions (governmental or private) has never recovered since global financial crisis of 2008.

The best part about the infection getting to the West is because of the racism, here are some lovely examples:
1)In Australia, the biggest number of carriers came from Europe (1/3) and the Americas (1/3).
2)In New Zealand, it got in via an Iranian.
3)In Europe, the super-spreader was a white guy.

This is a good reason why racism is bad, because you ignore other people who may carry the virus … just because “they’re one of us”. Lel.

And in another lol-worthy development, the Czech government stole a shipment of masks that were donated by China and meant for Italy

      Muh white solidarity

“Don’t talk like one of them. You’re not! Even if you’d like to be. To them, you’re just a freak, like me! They need you right now, but when they don’t, they’ll cast you out, like a leper! You see, their morals, their code, it’s a bad joke. Dropped at the first sign of trouble. They’re only as good as the world allows them to be. I’ll show you. When the chips are down, these… these civilized people, they’ll eat each other. See, I’m not a monster. I’m just ahead of the curve. -The Joker”

History seems to show that whites are exactly the race with the lowest racial solidarity.

Also, race solidarity seems like a defence mechanism: it appears strong in White proles, because they’re the ones who are suffering compared to their elite, whose racism is more diffuse, as they do not need defence (yet).

Zooming out, thirld-world countries are aware of race, Western ones are the ones where we pretend it does not exist.

Apex predators worry about other apex predators. When they will realise that they’re not so apex any more, Whites may change their collective behaviour towards race.

The other lovely part that dares not get reported too much …
International students in Australia and New Zealand, go over there to work while studying, as their fees are around 5x the cost of locals.
So they are effectively subsidising the ozzies and kiwis.

However, they are not entitled to welfare.

Plus, Asian women get treated much better than Asian men in Australia and New Zealand.
Plus, white men in Australia and New Zealand enjoy having sex and white worship from Asian women in Australia and New Zealand.
And prostitution is legal in Australia and New Zealand.

Do you see where I’m going?

CoViD-19 created a lockdown in both countries -> International students couldn’t get any work -> Kiwis and Ozzies love Asian poon -> International students become prostitutes.

That’s also another lovely side effect of being racist (and being stupid, but I repeat myself).

Looks like the kiwis and ozzies now have to worry about imported Vagina Dentata

Brothels, strip clubs and “sex-on-premises” venues have been added to the long list of non-essential services closing due to coronavirus but some sex workers in the private escort industry are still touting for business.

In a development police appear powerless to stop, hundreds of advertisements for private sex workers are appearing on popular sites, a number of them citing the extra measures the escorts are taking to provide intimate services safely.

at one point, in New Zealand, sex workers were on the Skills Shortage List

Thousands of medical students are set to bolster Victoria’s health system and join the frontline of the coronavirus pandemic, with some starting in hospitals as early as this week.

The Victorian government has asked the state’s medical schools – which teach about 4000 doctors-in-training – to provide numbers on how many students are willing to join a surge health force, as Australia moves towards hitting a peak in coronavirus infections in May or June.

Remember, just like New Zealand, Australia have tightened up their immigration policy.
Some of these students are international – paying 5x the fees.
And now they’re being asked to put their lives on the line.
Of course, the unstated promise is “then you will get your permanent residency”

Would definitely like to see if this is similar to the repeat of the UK and Gurkhas who fought for them … this is the article: “Joanna Lumley’s legacy of misery: She fought to allow retired Gurkhas into Britain with her heart in the right place. Five years on, even they say it’s backfired terribly”

The US, UK, NZ, Australia and Canada have a long history of using and discarding foreign fighters that served them loyally.

      … so if the CoViD-19 re-infectors are again, non-Chinese-diaspora Asians …
well … looks like NZ is proven to be racist again … (even Taika Waititi says so) 🙂

Just think, South Korea had “drive through” testing centers where you could find out in 10 minutes if you had covid19.

How come the US doesn’t have this?

Also, Amazon is doing “mass hiring”…

There was a post on reddit where a guy showed how all the new hires were crammed together… No social distancing. Bezos wouldn’t put himself under such pressure but he has no problem putting you under that. Anything for a buck…

This article is just Chinese propaganda. You don’t know how the Chinese government is handling this virus because they are not free with their information. Now journalists are getting banned in China. This indicates massive cover-ups in the Chinese government and mis-information.

There is something very confused in AD’s thinking here. It is not clear what he wants. Does he approve of totalitarianism because it is (supposedly) more effective in controlling pandemics? Probably he wants what is good about totalitarianism without any of the bad along with it, but there’s so far no such possible arrangement available to humankind.

        March 23, 2020 at 2:19 pm

I agree something is really messed up with AD here. Either he is dillusional about totalitarian governments, or is getting paid to promote propaganda. All totalitarian governments will limit the free flow of information and deflect blame onto someone else. China is following the classic playbook of dictatorships in that they are blaming America and the west for the virus, they limit the free flow of information, and they expel western journalists who don’t spew their propaganda. It is always the free western countries that prevail in history. China is doomed.

Perhaps you might want to read some of my previous posts before jumping to conclusions..

        March 24, 2020 at 2:35 am

There is nothing confused about AD. AD is, and always has been, a commie. So it’s not surprising that, when his commie interests are aligned, he is now a shill and cheerleader for the interests of the Fake Pandemic, which is a planned scam, totalitarian power grab, insider trading, and racketeering, by the Chinese communist party and Chinese Center for Disease Control, the World Health Organization, the World Bank, the United Nations, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the deep state, CIA, mike Bloomberg, Fake News Mass Media, Fake Social Media, etc.

Well, that’s what I think. I am saddened beyond belief. We do not get out of this unscathed. In the face of this calamity I question my own passivity. I got hurt pretty badly when I tussled with the police, but it is nothing compared to the way I will be hurt by them now, as will everyone I care about.

The most galling is that feelings of superiority have made us completely unable to learn anything from the Chinese. The Chinese published about chloroquine on Feb 4 and published clinical trial results on Feb 19. In the West everybody is talking about how we don’t know anything about the efficacy and there have been no clinical studies. The same is true for asymptomatic contagion, where I live the authorities are still claiming it does not exist: everything is based on generic measures with regard to the flu.
But at the same time they are claiming the sole right to speak, even though people in other countries (and especially doctors) are reading from a different script. Where I live people are still convinced that it won’t impact because we’re superior and we have a better society and health care than Lombardy (Italy) or China. It’s incredible. And most of the measures are not being executed to be effective, but as purely symbolic measures, as if we will be rewarded for our good intentions and gestures.

Bureaucrats (FDA) don’t like being circumvented, makes them look like powerless fools, so they will fight this despite the evidence already available.

If chloroquine gets traction, Remdesivir gets sold less. Gilead may have slipped a few envelopes here and there, who knows.

Combined with the Democrat-blocked handouts, Trump is basically openly fighting Evil. I don’t understand his opponents. Are they doing this on purpose?

“Most importantly, they did it without any concern to the cost of doing so or potential economic losses which their own moneyed class might suffer. To make a long story short, they put the welfare of majority above the needs and demands of their moneyed class.”

Ever since 2008, the policy has been to infuse the moneyed classes with ever more money in something resembling a perpetual bailout. This has involved trillions of dollars and a gradual immiseration of the general public. In essence, the rich got richer, the poor got poor. As always. What is exceptional is that this happened as the result of explicit public policy, as the result of government action. The other remarkable thing is that it made no sense to make the rich richer when the rich were so incredibly, fabulously rich?

How could the rich even care about being richer beyond the “monster” point of owning everything and having everything? My guess is the rich became evil in becoming so rich.
There is evidence of this in such things as the Epstein affair and dark rumors of very sinister activities at the highest levels.

If by backlash, you mean grumbling, I think you’re correct. If by backlash you mean substantive change in the way things are run, I doubt it. The back of labor has been broken and perverted. You don’t recover from a broken back. I think we’re going to become China. We may be already in the process of transformation. Look at immigration. China is a sweet setup for its ruling class. They have complete control. They can outlaw Winnie the Pooh if they want. They can outlaw grumbling. Their pedophiles (they have them) can indulge to their hearts’ content, rather openly.

Money doesn’t matter, costs don’t matter. Control matters. It may even be we’ll be better off in certain ways under totalitarianism. Maybe you name some in this post. Such quaint notions as freedom and thinking for yourself and so on, will no longer trouble us.

Chloroquine was literally invented by Nazi Germany. We cannot use chloroquine one the general population, because that would be racist and fascist. Gay niggers in particular should not receive this fascist medicine.

The US is not a “truly capitalistic” nation. It’s a mixed economy and the government involvement keeps growing! The central bank is the most socialist entity in America. When the Fed gets involved to rig the free-market, it creates all kinds of problems. In a free-market system, you let the Big Banks, the Airlines, the Cruise Lines, etc., FAIL! You don’t bail them out. But that is what our government keeps doing.

    • Yusef
      March 24, 2020 at 9:06 am

      That’s exactly right.

What AD said about everything being done to the benefit of the “capitalists” (by which I think he means the plutocrats) was certainly true. However, he has failed to appreciate the degree to which corporate welfare programs have created the economic situation and “system” we now live under. The corporate welfare programs have been especially prominent in our financial system, which has been propped up to the tune of trillions. There’s no reason whatsoever to characterize that as “truly capitalist.”

The whole irony, and I would say tragedy, (for it is going to be deeply unfortunate for nearly all of us) is that the whole mess started during the damned Reagan administration under the guise of being “free market” and “truly capitalist” and people bought it as such. However, people buying into this during Reagan’s own administration, had to overlook one of the greatest failures in US economic history, the savings and loan crisis, rescue, and bailouts. We could have averted our soon-to-be epic woes altogether if we’d been able to step back and learn the lessons we needed to learn then. Oh not us.It was much more pleasant and easy to not understand “capitalism” is.

      To quote you,

“In a free-market system, you let the Big Banks, the Airlines, the Cruise Lines, etc., FAIL! You don’t bail them out. But that is what our government keeps doing.”

When businesses fail, for example by making bad loans, the banks go out of business and the incompetent bankers find something else to do for a living. Or go to jail in the case of corruption, but in our “system” we did not have sufficient criminal justice laws in place to sift criminality from incompetence. Now we pay the price.
